I'm gonna miss this bonehead.

3 favorite memories.

His first goal against Broduer

Chanting USA after he didn't make the Olympic team.

Him beating the snot out of Niskanen and giving us life in that series.

That OT goal and the USA chant were magical. Goodbye Kyle, you'll be missed.

Not much talk on here...

Okposo was a good Islander as well. Injury prone, but still nonetheless our 2nd best scorer the last couple of years

I guess the injuries made him change his style of play... but I honestly miss the old bull power forward Kyle. Hopefully where ever he goes (Buffalo?) will bring that out out of him again instead of turning the puck over play maker Kyle who falls down.

I do not think he is going to be easy to replace in our lineup, despite what most fans think/say about him. He produced at 0.81 PPG average this year... That is 1st line production.

I'm convinced that Phanuef hit changed his whole career.

That was such a dirty play by Phaneuf, dirtbag.

KO's injuries always came at the worst possible time. That Phaneuf hit, the shoulder injury that cost him a whole season, the detached retina when he was en fuego.

And he still came back strongly from all of those.

He definitely had us all frustrated at times, but he will be missed in the locker room and on the score sheet. One of the original troopers through our rebuild. The last non-Garth first rounder. Best of luck, Kyle.

He hasn't been the same since the eye injury. His game has gone full on finesse forward nowadays, he barely engages physically. He used to be a beast in puck battles, he can't win one to save his life now.

Sad to see KO go...he'll get a much deserved raise and continue being a 1st liner.

He often got ripped into shreds by the fans here when he didn't deserve it. He did sometimes, but not to the extent that he should have been. I hope he finds success wherever he goes and that his family is happy.

One of my jersey's is now retired. As frustrating as he was to watch at times, when he kept it simple, he was extremely useful. I blame Flintstone for part of that, I think a real coach pulls him aside and forces him to play the north-south game that suits his body and ability.

Good luck Booker T, you will be missed by us. Do well, except when the Islanders play you.

I don't get this. You guys have been hating on this guy for years. And now many of you are sad that he is gone...

I'm glad that he got a raise. He has been loyal and seems to be a good person. I'm also happy that the Islanders doesn't pay him 6 m for 7 years.

I wish for a fair number of posters to take a chill. It's July 1st. It's not like Joey MacDonald is back in net and Bruno Gervais is on the blue line.

I love the guy, was one of the biggest defenders on the board.

But even for the haters nostalgia sets in.

I just want to point out that it's no surprise to me that both Martin and Nielsen have 3+ pages and we're still working on the first for Okposo. Even the Warrior has more pages dedicated to him.

For all the moaning about losing this guy, he's not worth his contract, not even close. This is not a winning player..... winning players don't choose to sign in Buffalo at this juncture when 7 other teams are bidding for you. Winning was not very high on his list. That is not a player you pay top money to and go to war with.

Bold statement. He will be missed on the scoresheet no doubt. I have a hunch Kyle is a little bitter towards the organization now too, being that we didn't even make an offer.

I think we all knew he was a goner a year ago so this was no surprise. Miss the person, not the player. He's going to drive Buffalo fans nuts when he's in SUCKPoso mode, especially when he's a $6M player. We put up with it because he was a $2.8M cap hit.

He's def bitter at us. Look at his Twitter account. Never thanked us for the years and is saying how happy he is to be in a "sports town". Thanks Kyle, enjoy that depressed city with zero championships to its name

He's definitely bitter and I can't really blame him. He's been a great soldier and while he was no longer wanted, he deserved a little more respect than being completely shut out. We all knew he was gone a year ago, it is kind of cold for Snow to never have contracted him and his agent about a new contract. I mean seriously, I wouldn't be too happy if I was in his position when the team that I bled for gave me a big fat middle finger.

Like I've said many times, I will miss Kyle Okposo the person because he's a good dude and was a credit to the Isles during his time. As for the hockey player, I would have driven him to Buffalo myself. I've been hammering his game for 2 years now and I'm excited for other people to get his ice time. I'm bitter myself because he cost Johnny the Art Ross that one year. He came back from his eye injury and I think JT went scoreless in like 7 games or something, the longest scoreless streak of his career because KO was at the peak of his OkpoSUCK. Part of the blame was for Capuano immediately putting KO back at #1RW, but he was an absolute abomination and he was the ONLY thing that could stop Tavares.

I wish him good luck and I hope his saltiness subsides in time.
