Not really, we need another elite talent on this club, preferably a center or defenseman. It's much easier to get those guys at the top of the draft. That said, if we finish last again Renney would have to be gone as players simply wouldn't give a crap what he has to say.

Normally I don't like to comment on the refereeing, but tonight, I only have one word.....bizarre. And that goes both ways. Zidlicky and a few others looked like they were chopping down trees and nothing gets called. And then the Wild Dman hits Hall solidly on the boards with a clean check and gets an interference call? WTF? A whole evening of that kind of stupidity. Nothing to do with the outcome, just sayin.

As to the game, no one really stood out much except for Hall, who was outstanding, and could have had 3-4 goals with a little luck. Best game he's had in a long long time. Teubert also looked very good. I'd play him over Plante for sure and Petry as well. Hemsky at least looked like he was trying, even though the results were the same for him as they've been most of the year. Perhaps if he keeps this up, he'll pot a few and we can get something for him in February.

I want Renney gone regardless.

If you ask me Montréal's the one we gotta look out for, they're pulling an admirable tank job too.

Drafting D would be nice but even top level defence talent are two or three years away from contributing on a night to night basis in the NHL. Doughty's don't come around every year. Ryan Murray isn't ready yet.

Tambellini needs to get his head out of his ass find some actual defence talent within the NHL.

IMO, it's more important to clean up the defense, because with a solid defense we can win these games 3-2 instead of losing 4-3.

It sucks seeing Ebs blow that play, but the kid has been ridiculous over the last stretch and is having a great year, so I'm already over it.
The defense needs to get cleaned up for sure, hopefully that gets addressed prior to the start of next season. Sutton's physical play would've been welcomed tonight.

I'm sure the trade for Weber is in the works.

Murray or Dumba is what I'm hoping for. I hope Tambo puts on his big boy pants after that and helps this bloody team. I don't want to go through another season of top five pick hockey. Three is more than enough to get the rebuild going isn't it?

The worst team in the league? I'd say the Oilers are closer to grasping that title then the Wild.

Forget about Weber. Some actual NHL talent instead of pretenders might be nice.

We pretty much have to take Nail if we are given the chance.

The blueline needs to be addressed through trades and free agency.

Being only 8 points ahead of a Columbus team that has been unbelievably bad this year IS a scary thought.
This Oilers team should be better than that, it might have acceptable the last 2 years but on paper, this team should be better and the idea of them finishing near the bottom of the league standings again is a sobering thought. It's not like there are any generational talents at the top of the draft anyway.

syz is just having some fun. He hates the Wild and found their brief reign at the top of the Western Conference humorous.

As did I.

Same here, the players will not take him seriously.

I liked Teubert's game minus the fact that he was getting caught up ice going for hits twice, one of those attempts led to a GA.

Except for that part where the Wild have looked awful against a bad Oilers team 5/6 times this year.

Their gameplan has had question marks in it all year.

Get outplayed and outshot.
????
Win game anyway. Thanks Backs.

The defense is an issue, but when 6 of the top 7were healthy (Gilbert, Smid, Potter, Barker, Sutton and Peckham) they looked good enough. Petry hasn't impressed me much this season, Peckham has been good and bad, Barker was at least steady, ditto Sutton.

Our problem is that when we go down a couple of d we don't have much in the way of experience on the farm. Plante, Tuebert and Petry for that matter, could all stand to spend more time in the AHL. I wish we would pick up a reasonable bottom pairing depth dman for the rest of the year. It would make a huge difference.

Really? three years of garbage hockey and the guy is supposed to shoot rainbows out his arse? I think you can cut the fans a little slack for not enjoying it. Calling into question the worthiness of a fan because they aren't happy with losing is ********. That happens far too often with people here.

He'd actually be an improvement on most of the defencemen on this team.

We should be better but between coaching, slumps, guys playing far from 100%, etc. we are a poor team. Changes will need to be made, hard decisions will need to be made, Tambo has the rest of this season and into the start of next to revamp this club in a big way. No more temp fixes unless we bring back a guy like Sutton.

Hey, I'm hoping for the same thing but we might have to wait for Katz to wake up from his cryogenic sleep again. That might be eight to ten months away.

I could see a shuffle in the coaching ranks. However, I don't see Tambo going anywhere (as some people here seem to believe).
