Wiz breaks ankle

Now what? Hate to see anybody get hurt but the Jackets are now without a minus 18 d-man (although I did read that he went -11 in a 3 game stretch). Of course they are also without their pp qb. But who replaces him? Savard? Johnson? Without bad luck, well, you know-

“@Aportzline: Puck-rakers: #CBJ D James Wisniewski suffered fractured left ankle in #CBJ 4-1 win over Dallas. http://t.co/GakACqQM”

Fractured sounds better then broken at least.

Looks like Johnson is the man now. Doesn't look like there are any NHL ready defensemen in Springfield.

If AJ is "The Man," looks like there are only 5 NHL defensemen in Columbus, and he ain't one of them.

Yeah...I actually like AJ's game as a spell from time to time. When he's fresh, he shows decent speed and has a decent shot, but it seems like when he gets into game 3 or so of a run, he pylons up.

Let's hope the answer isn't Martinek, either. Not only is it likely he could end up with another concussion, but he was not good at all in the early part of the season.

I wish Goloubef wasn't hurt...I would like to see him make his debut this year at some point.

Coupled with the win last night and the way the team kept it close with Calgary, people expecting trades this soon might get a rude awakening, what finally makes Howson look at the big picture, I have no idea but I shudder to think of what it might entail if a 10-22-5 Hockey team doesn't do it...

Same thing. Bone fracture is just the correct term. At this point I'd say he's done for the regular season.

I still think he was a good fit in Montreal. It sucks to see him having such a bad year.

Has he been placed on IR? I'd like to know so I can update my fantasy team accordingly.

I would like to see Goloubef or Holden here... better to give experiences for Cody who is very speed or play Nick than Johnson. But Johnson will be the man IMO, I am afraid. I prefer Holden over Clitsome.

Moore, Nikitin
Tyutin, Goloubef
Methot, Holden/Clitsome

Get well quick Wiz!

I now suppose that we will go into a tail spin with out him, much like we did with our poor start to the season

This injury exposes the lack of NHL skilled depth that Howson failed to go out and get prior to this season. He gambled on an often injured Martinek and lost.

BTW

“@GMScottHowson: James Wisniewski saw Dr Watson this morning. No surgery required. Has fractured ankle. Will be out 6 weeks.”

Great. So even if some insane GM wants to trade for him, they won't now.

Let's hope he isn't Wade Redden #2.

I guess Dr. Watson was in the house trying to help Howson find a clue.

Martinek seems so long ago I forgot he was still on this team.... thanks for ruining my day

Follow suit, I dropped every single CBJ player I drafted this season 5 losses in (Nash, Vermette, Johanson)... and I am now in first place.

From Puck Rakers:

Quote:
He missed the first eight games of the season after he was suspended for a preseason altercation with Minnesota's Cal Clutterbuck, who was defenseless.
-- Aaron Portzline
Porty isn't letting go of Shanahan's defenseless comment. Love it!

When will it end?

Oh wait....

Anywho, hope he gets well soon. If nothing else, so his leg doesn't hurt while he watches this season's trainwreck explode from high above

Hey ....on the bright side it opens up cap space for Howson to make trade for someone like Bobby Ryan.....right?
