Who knows at this point. Kristin Reid thinks he'll be back sooner than later. Maybe he'll be recalled after the trade deadline?

reidder Kristin Reid
Even though Tanev is headed back to the Wolves, I would expect he's back soon- injury or no injury

Sounds like our boy Tanev has impressed the Canucks organization. Nice work.

Who is Reid with now? She's not with CanucksTV anymore, and I haven't seen her on SNET...

Good news about Salo, and hopefully she's right about Tanev coming back. I think post-deadline would be accurate. When is the roster limit waived? Playoffs?

I think we should petition the Canucks Organization to hire me to replace Reid. Kenward is about as scintillating as Marmite.

Isn't she with Global now? I've seen her do the Sports section on the news a few times on weekends.

Salo should have sat out todays game, and taken the extra week off.

I was gonna say...didn't really see any harm in Tanev getting an extra game, and Salo getting the extra time to heal. It's a long season for a 37 year old, and it's not like Salo ever shows much rust coming back from injuries. Oh well, guess he wanted to play.

Yeah, I don't get it either.
There is no harm in letting him rest a week. But it could be harmful to let him play.
Hell, I'd prefer letting Sulzer or Alberts play instead of him.

Can Pinizzotto and Volpatti still return for the playoffs a la malhotra last year?

I think they looked at it this way... Salo would be going nearly 4 weeks without a game if he skipped this one. If he does get injured now he's still got a week off AND he likely ready to go.

Agreed, I'd rather Salo didn't get hurt playing against a bottom feeder with the likes of Hordichuk and Eager running around.

The Canucks are saying Higgins is staying at home for the start of the four game road trip.

The Canucks are saying the flu and not a recurrence of the staph infection.
“(Higgins) is not travelling today with the team,” said Vigneault.. “He's still feeling under the weather so we're going to keep him behind. When he feels better, we're going to have him join the team.”

Red flags flew before Thursday's game with the Red Wings when Higgins was an unexpected no-show in the pre-game warm-up. The team said he was ill, but had not suffered a third occurrence of the staph infections that caused his foot and then hand to swell dramatically on separate occasions in early and late December.

“Our doctors feel that the antibiotics he's been taking are affecting his immune system a little bit, so it might be easier for him to catch the flu bug from someone else right now,” said Vigneault.

Now the Higgins situation is beginning to sound a little more serious as he apparently had a reaction to some of the medications and he has been switched of them.
"Now, they have him on new medication," Alain Vigneault said. "He was starting to be able to hold some food in. We're hoping that as soon as he gets his strength back here, he'll be able to join the team."

It's the latest troubling turn for the would-be top six winger who has scored just four goals in 14 weeks. First and foremost is Higgins health. It's encouraging that he's responding well to the change in meds. But there remains concern about his immune system. No one can be sure whether he'll be able to put this behind him for the rest of the season and through the playoffs.

"Of course there is (concern)," Vigneault said. "It's something that is very serious. He's had now three episodes in a little bit more than a year. I think our medical staff is doing everything they can to get this under control and get him the best possible medication to keep this under control.

"From there, you just keep your fingers crossed."

Obviously he's going to cut his leg off and replace it with a new titanium one as to extend his iron man streak.

Can't say I'm all that surprised. Foot probably swelled up after he took his skate off.

As long as Henrik is ok for the playoffs....Oh dear this could be bad.

Luckily We can still have Kesler/Hodgson/Lapierre/Malholtra down the middle....
