But if it's broken, how did he continue to play the other night? Didn't he feel any pain or... ?

These guys are tough. IIRC Daniel played a game or two before finding out his foot was broken a couple seasons ago. A lot of small bones in the foot that make it difficult to find breaks/fractures with swelling.

The Sedins "toughness" is very underrated.

People have played with fractures before. Could be a hairline fracture or something? Who knows? Better to err on the side of caution with the boot. Either way he's probably gone for a little while I'd imagine.

Compression boots can be used similarly to tensor bandages in order to keep swelling down.

It is a possibility of a fracture, but it's also possible it's a bruise and they're compressing it to keep the inflammation down.

With Kesler Hodgson Lappy Manny down the middle chances are we don't see Schroeder at all. I can see Gillis sitting on his capspace and trying to hold on to as much of it as possible.

Same reason I can see him holding back Tanev for now so he can maximise cap space for deadline move or two.

From what I heard from recent game day reports, I believe he has been one of the best forwards on his team.

And you're suggesting to put him on the wing....
Have you even read any report or watched him playing at all?
He's been able to be productive only when he's playing centre.

All the more reason we aren't dealing Hodgson for just about anyone. 3 centres that can provide offense can save a team. Kesler-Manny-Lappy-whoever is frighteningly bad.

Sounds like x-rays were inconclusive. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing:

It is known as the Bobby Baun Effect.

Inconclusive x-rays generally mean that there's no broken bones (aside from maybe hairline fractures) but that the injury is inconclusive because you can't really diagnose most soft tissue injuries using x-ray.

I'd bet to say he's got a deep muscle bruise that they're compressing to increase the blood flow to the area. I'd say he'll be out anywhere from 0-5 games depending on the severity.

Was just thinking of this. Sometimes veins can look like fractures on an X-ray.

I hope he takes as much time as possible to heal, better now than in the playoffs.

X-rays display larger differences in densities, hence why you can use it to diagnose pneumonia (bacterial fluid in the lungs) and bone fractures (and other ailments like osteoporosis). Tissue like muscles and tendons generally require a CT scan which can pick up more minute differences in tissue densities that wouldn't be noticed with a generic x-ray.

I hope that made sense, I'm pretty messed on NyQuil right now so forgive me.

I prefer The Macallan 12 year Old Sherry Oak Scotch personally... but to each her/his/own.

For whatever it's worth, I've recently taken an X-ray of both of my knees and nothing showed up, even though both of them were hurting pretty bad and had a bit of swelling - walking was pretty difficult. I didn't follow it up with a CT scan or anything but I was diagnosed with bruised tendons and after two weeks of treatment (anti-inflammatories + proper workout) they feel way better. And I'm no tough hockey player.

Could be something small like that.

When I saw the replay I thought he might have received a hairline fracture of the ankle. Was surprised to see him return with the pain he was in.

I've had that before but it was quite awhile ago. I spent 4-6 weeks in a cast and then rehab.

****...just saw this.

Might as well get it out of the way while the team is miles ahead of Minnesota. It'll give Hodgson more ice time as well.

Dale Weise went on the ice for about 2 minutes and left limping as well. He also took a puck off the foot last night.

Oh my. Let's hope its more like 6-8 days instead of 6-8 weeks.. My lineup for tomorrow-
Sedin-Hodgson-Hansen
Booth-Kesler-Burrows
Raymond-Lapierre-Higgins(?)
Weise-Malhotra-Bitz

If Higgins isn't ready-

Sedin-Hodgson-Hansen
Booth-Kesler-Burrows
Raymond-Schroeder-Bitz
Lapierre-Malhotra-Weise

EDIT: Never mind. No Higgins or Weise. Who gets the call from Chicago? Sweatt maybe? Schroeder?
