I remember when he was first traded and shortly after the season began he mentioned nobody noticed his birthday. He looked really sad. It just seems like Keith Ballard and the Canucks have never really clicked. Just as he begins to turn things around and tries to get on his teammates and coaches' good side with some fights, he gets a concussion/neck injury. Insert Price is Right fail sound.
From the interviews I have heard, I think Keith Ballard is a good guy and well liked by his team mates. Unfortunately he has come from being a big fish in a small pond and now he's barely a number 5 in a big pond.
He's just playing on the wrong team and needs a fresh start.

Haha I never saw that interview but I can almost guarantee he wasn't serious. He's almost never serious and in a constant state of hangdog/deadpan humour.
Expect rapid improvement after Monday. Is Gilman at it again? It is his time to shine, after all.
Or if there is an acquisition with a sizable contact, my diagnosis would be treatment on the LTIR and a return to the active roster the day after then end of the regular season.

If he was really ok, I don't see any reason for them to exaggerate it like this. You'd think they would just leave it at that and go quietly about their business til after the deadline.

Can't imagine them wanting to bring Ballard back cold after the regular season. Of course, there could be another LTIR injury between now and then to someone older, a bit injury prone and quite used to getting back up to game speed after a long lay-off.

VAN put Keith Ballard on LTIR, Creates $4.2M worth of cap space. May be setting up for deal. Maybe I Ott to look into that.
I am starting to wonder if Ballard is really injured or they made it up just to free up Cap? Conspiracy.
You really think that Keith Ballard is going to just say "oh, yeah, no problem guys. I don't really want to play anyway, so I'll just fake this injury. I want some beach time instead of playing into the fun part of the season down the final stretch. No worries."

If he wants to win a Stanley Cup? Yes. Absolutely.

In addition, no professional medical doctor is going to risk his license by giving out a false diagnosis.
