When I heard carmageddon was being remade, man, I think it's the most exciting news in gaming I've heard in a while. I played this **** out of the first two.
TotalBiscuit made a video stating why Dark Souls should come to the PC ...the Bandai forums have since lit up and a petition has been created with thousands of sigs in just an hour.
I probably would too. Lots of people I trust in the matter say it's the best game they played in 2011. If It doesn't come to PC, which honestly is most likely what will happen; I'm gonna scoop up a PS3 when the next gen comes out and play the exclusives I want like I did with PS2/gamecube last time around.

Dark Souls and Demon's Souls are 2 of the best games i ever played, tbh.
the problem with waiting, like u say you plan on doing with the PS3 version, is that the servers will be taken down by that time/ the player fanbase will likely have moved on anyway, and there'll be no multiplayer left to take part in ...which is a huge aspect of those games.
multiplayer isn't required in those games ...but it adds so much to the experience that it shouldn't be missed.
the Demon's Souls servers were actually supposed to be taken down a year or two ago ...but time was extended due to the game's popularity.

I won't be playing MP so it doesn't matter
Generally keep my MP to shooters these days otherwise I'll have no time to finish my RPG back log.

no worries then, you'll be all set.
in Dark Souls you can actually (sometimes) summon CPU controlled teammates in to help you ...and CPU controlled players can sometimes invade your game.
so you wont completely miss out on the experience.

I squealed with glee when I saw the Carmageddon news! One of the lost franchises from the late 90's and more or less forgotten once GTA 3 came out. GTA just really doesn't fill the same need for me though, so I really hope they can get this one off the ground.
In the days of X-com being an FPS I wouldn't get too invested in the Carmageddon resurrection. Granted it's not as easy to mess up but I wouldn't put it past today's industry either.
I still want to play Carmageddon Resurrection badly but Battlefield 3 pretty much put the final nail in the coffin for today's gaming industry for me. Games just aren't the same and they seem to have taken a turn for the worse IMO. I'm not expecting it to be as crazy as the original but would still like to give it a shot.

BUT YOU ARE JUST OLD NOW AND DON'T ENJOY GAMES AS MUCH
I enjoy pretty as much as the next guy. But on the older stuff even I have my limits. I can't go much further back than 1995 on the PC side. But a lot of that has more to do with the interfaces than the graphics.
But I really think this popular graphic sums up my thoughts on gaming currently better than words could ever do it.
I'm playing Crysis, and that has actually been pretty refreshing on that end. Straightforward gameplay and actual level design with multiple paths. Get rid of the health regen and I'd be in nirvana. But compare that with Metro 2033, another game I just recently played and it's almost a dead ringer for the 2010 side.
i think games are a lot better these days, and i've been playing them pretty steady since the 80s.
i will say that i find music to be tons worse these days versus yesteryear, tho. (and i'm not talking about music in games ...i'm talkin about the actual music scene)

I agree there should be a change. I do love BF3, but I'm not addicted to it and in someways, I'm just a casual player. It has great ideas, but the problem is, is that it really needs to be changed up. If anything, I think games should go back to where you actually need to use your ******* brain. As such, the new XCOM Enemy Unknown, which goes back to old school gaming but in a somewhat rejuvenated form. Maybe gaming needs to become cyclical in the fact by taking some great ideas from the past to make things different from how it is now.
I hope I don't sound random or anything saying this.
FPS has changed for the better in recent years, however, health regen is the bane of FPS. In the old days you used to have to find med kits. Now games use health regen as an excuse to make the game more difficult but also easier at the same time where AI is going to hit you much sooner when you expose yourself, but then once you get hit you get to hide behind a wall for 10 seconds waiting for your health to come back.

It's even more pathetic in multiplayer.
Funny you mentioned this, I just started playing HL2 Episode 1 and I forgot how much different it played then the newer FPS. I love it, still made my heart race during some parts of the game.

I loved the original Crysis because it was so open. Crysis 2 pretty much totally removed that ability, and that sucks. Crysis 2 was just a disappointment overall.
