Who knows how long he'll be out now with a separated shoulder.

Oh and here's the article with quotes from Howson in case anyone wanted a source.

"At this point, we are anticipating that we will be trading away some of our players, particularly unrestricted ones," Howson said. "But we will see what the next month and a half brings to see if there is any improved play."

Need to see how things pan out for another month or two before we should consider rentals. Prospal would be nice though.

Me too, he's a big time goal scorer on a good cap, locked in longterm.

Yes he is. And Carter with a separated shoulder is a lot more effective than a healthy Dustin Penner.

I'd still make a deal for him. That's not going to interfere with his career, his contract is amazing, he pairs very well with Richards. It's a can't miss, undeniable deal. You have to go for him.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a Carter.

Does anyone know his timetable for return?

In the same article posted above concerning the Blue Jackets being sellers, it is mentioned by Howson that they have no timetable on Carter's return.

Dunno, but the Jackets website says he is day-to-day. Either way. I don't care if he is injured. If it isn't a major injury, we would have pretty much a decade with him and Richards, gotta make the deal. His skillset is exactly what we are looking for and he plays the left side.

The Jackets gave up Voracek, the 8th overall pick (Couturier), and a 3rd round pick to get Carter. No way do they trade him for less than that so soon.

Something like Bernier, Voynov, and a 2nd might get negotiations going but I really don't think it'd be enough. We don't have an expendable, young, proven forward to deal.

I'm in agreement with you there. Having both former flyers in Richards and Carter would be ****in amazing.

The thing is, I think we have the players to acquire Carter.

Voynov, Bernier, Toffoli, Martinez, Forbort...

Not saying all of them, but pick your 2 or 3 and/or a pick.

I doubt all of them together would even get you in the ballpark to get a trade for Carter done. Proven quality player(s) would need to go the other way.

Anyway, Carter would be nice but unless we plan on trading Kopitar I'd rather upgrade at wing. Yeah Carter can play wing I guess but as Richards showed it doesn't necessarily translate.

They'd probably start with Loktionov.

I still think Bernier + Johnson for Nash would be a good deal for us.

Brown-Kopitar-Nash
Penner-Richards-Williams
Richardson-Loktionov-Stoll
Clifford-Fraser-Lewis
Hunter,Westgarth

Scuderi-Doughty
Mitchell-Voynov
Martinez-Greene
Drewiske

Quick
Zaktoff

*Should be able to fit Nash under the CAP with Gagne injury.

And we'd still have plenty of flexibility with Stoll, Penner, Hunter and Mitchell all coming off the books at the end of the season. I would prefer to resign Mitchell.

It would be interesting to see how Nash plays on a different team. Cause he sure doesn't bring it on that loser Columbus.

The same could be said of Johnson.

Nash is legit though. He just needs a change of scenery. Playing for Columbus for 9 years, with no hope on the horizon, will break the spirit of any player.

Check out #17 on this list and look at some of the guys he's ahead of: http://www.eliteprospects.com/league...ame=&order=PPG

Fleury, Kariya, Selanne, Malkin, Sundin, etc. The only active player with a better clip is Marty St. Louis and IIRC they've been regular linemates for that squad.

You can show me all the stats you like, I have two eyes. The Guy is a massive floater in Columbus. While Columbus has been a poor team forever, Nash has not been part of the solution either.

Penner had good stats too before becoming a King. Nash would need to really dazzle to justify giving up half the farm for him. Cause what I have seen in Columbus is not worth it (Cap hit as well).

I wouldn't be all too upset cause I would give him a chance. But boy would he need to play wayyyyyyyyyyy Better as a King. Plus he would have no excuses here (Kopitar would be his Center).

All I gotta say is Dean, do not trade for Semin. That guy was pretty much invisible tonight. What a waste of talent. He could be a yearly 40+ goal scorer if he would put in a solid effort on a nightly basis.
