If Vanek really is available, go after him. I have my doubts though. He's producing at a point per game pace and is Buffalo's leading goal scorer, and this is also a team that is short on offense after Vanek and Pominville.

I doubt he is available, we are talking in possible scenarios where losing Jack would be acceptable.

In that case, yes, that would be an acceptable move. Not for a player like Rene Bourque though.

Im fine with a deal for Vanek. I just cant get comprehend all the kudos Nash gets.

Kings and Dallas won't be in the same division past this season.

I was hoping for Vanek during the off season when Buffalo was spending like crazy. Johnson+ for Vanek; yes, in a heartbeat. Would they want Stoll?

I didn't think Richards would be moved, so maybe Buffalo would move Vanek.

Exactly. If people are so desperate just post what eklund tweets. At least his proposals are funny.

I am assuming people are believing Voynov will replace Johnson...

I don't know, as much as I like Voynov, I am not sure.

Having the option of Doughty, Johnson, Voynov, Martinez on D, is amazing, especially when you can throw in Mitchell, Scuderi, and Greene.

I would be very hesitant to deal one of our D...that might be my cautious side, but I would much rather deal prospects,

Even guys like Toffoli, Vey, Deslauriers, Kitsyn, etc.

Agreed. It would have to be a hell of a deal for someone who'd have a long term impact OR management would have to believe this team is ready to go deep into the playoffs right now and want to double down.

This such a young defensive core. They aren't even going to be hitting their stride for another two or three years as pro's. It really is amazing when you look at our D players / prospects and then at our depth in goal. Terrific job by Lombardi and the scouting department.

it should and has to come from the back end. they have to few offensive prospects as it is. they can't afford to keep mortgaging the future up front. to trade away any forward prospect(s) and god forbid more Rd1&2 picks is just foolish.

the depth on this team is at G and D, so you use those assets to help plug holes and fill needs up front. the emergence of VV has really thrown a wrench into this argument. i love JJ and the guy will be beastly in a few more years. face it though he and JB are the two very big wild cards up Dean's sleeve to bargain with. LA could easily go without JJ now because of VV. hell i think VV shows better defensive zone instincts at this point and we know he has the skills on the other end.

Kings have to deal one of the puck movers...We have Doughty, Johnson, Voynov, Martinez, and Hickey, Deslauriers in the wings. Whether we like it or not, that is the Kings position of strength. Greene and Scuderi will be around for a few more years and Mitchell is a UFA, but even if he leaves Kings need to replace him with a stay at home D, NOT a puck mover.

Maybe the modern era defensive corp is 6 PMD ! All moving all the time !! Five man onslaught !!!

Let the goalies be the stay at home guys. They only play there because they can't skate anyway.

He was one of the few players on my list I would have given Schenn+ for. I still want that guy.

Kings fan from Buffalo, I'll make this short: we aren't getting Vanek.

Philly said the exact same thing about Carter and Richards

The Sabres don't have a potential franchise player like Giroux as back up. With the fall of Miller, and Vanek + Pommers being the only ones producing offense it's not happening unless a top center comes back the other way. It might be a stretch but I'd say that Richards or Kopitar aren't gonna be traded for Vanek.

Bingo.

Fan of Buffalo myself. No way Vanek gets moved.

There is a long list of guys in front of he and Pominville that should get the axe.

Also...interesting stuff from Helene Elliot regarding ducks

Bob Murray: "says he has two untouchables--Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu--but anyone else is in play"

I think Johnson for Stafford makes sense. Honestly you could probably go Johnson for Stafford straight across. Or Maybe even Johnson for Stafford + Prospect (most likely a defensive defensemen prospect since Buf has a TON of D-Dmen in the system)

Stafford would be a good solid 3rd liner on this team. Plus he still has 3 years on his contract after this season and is only 26.

A 3rd line centered by Loktionov with Stafford on a wing doesn't sound too awful honestly.

Pretty telling how upset he is.

He big guy, your fault. Fall on your sword and step down...honestly he has built that team so poorly. They have been centered around 3 players for soooo long. Those 3 players being Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne. He has just benefited from the fact that...those are 3 REALLY good players that WILL carry you. But even they have limits...I think year 4 or 5 of them being the whole team is a limit.

Probably not, but I wouldn't mind Ryan, Getz or Smith-Pelley.

LOS ANGELES - J.S. Aubin was traded by the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday but he won't be going far.
The Kings dealt the goaltender to the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick. Aubin, 30, is 5-6-1 with a 3.19 goals-against average and .886 save percentage in 19 games this season.
