I think it's clear that Bugg wins the trade, but I know I wouldn't give up my 1st round pick if I didn't feel I won the trade either!
Agreed.

Not to try and add any controversy to an already resolved issue, but I'm not sure personally why the deal with 134 with 151 was vetoed, but without it suddenly becomes "fair". Just to make sure, we're not here to make sure all deals are "fair", but rather "not lopsided", right? Similar to the question TDMM asked at the top of the page, is the line between a good trade and a veto-worthy one as marginal as 17 picks in the fifth?

Pretty simply, I don't think those added picks makes Bugg a clear-cut favourite to win, and papershoes a clear cut favourite to be bounced in the first, all other things considered equal, but maybe I'm too lenient. Glad that at least it's sorted out and both parties are content so we can move on, this post is just for future reference.

The trade was not officially vetoed.

Still, there was enough pressure that the GM's felt the need to have it re-worked, no? Either way, it wasn't accepted.

I saw discussion, not pressure.

Edit: I guess you mean the line of GMs telling what they said would be a fair deal instead?

Okay, well that's fair enough. Yeah, I did mean that too. Could've just been resolved without someone in this thread that wasn't involved in the trade suggesting the final deal, but c'est la vie.

This trade is obviously not veto-worthy, but I find it interesting to see what Bugg did.

To others: 23, 42, 106, 170
To Bugg: 25, 59, 70, 153

Bugg lost 19 total spots to gain 100 not all that later, and that's after the 2 trades nobody had a problem with.

I think this is proof that the other trade should have been vetoed, even if we didn't get there. Good job to whoever applied "pressure." Now let's get on with this thing.
But he loses 47 spots back with 106 for 153. It's fair game for everyone.

LOL, I was wondering how on Earth Bugg could make 2 fair trades and come out so far ahead. Edited the last post. He's pretty much back where he started.

Sorry guys. Really stupid on my part.

If anyone that has a pick coming up wants to deal it, I'm your guy. I'm targeting someone in particular.

Considering that this is the second draft in a row where we have had to deal with a trade that was hugely unbalanced in your favor, I find your moral indignation a little hollow.

If you think the guy you want might fall to 34, send me a PM. I'm not sure I want to deal that pick, but I'd definitely explore options.

It's possible but not likely. If he's still there closer to the pick we'll talk some more.

Toying with the idea of moving down from 29 if anyone is interested. I'd be looking to get a second rounder back and upgrade my late 3rd or early 4th rounder.

For sure interested.....shoot me a PM with the exact range of what you're proposing.

I would but I'm about to drive to work....I will have access there though on my phone so I'll be able to get back to you.

Anyone looking to move/acquire picks, I'm open for discussions, depending on what you have.

NVM, now I know.

There are some other C's from Messier's era still left on the board who are basically on that same level, IMO.

Personally I just believe that in this playoff intensive format he is probably one of the 20-25 best players you can have in this draft. I wanted to trade back in to get Jagr before, but that was only because Jagr is one of my favorite players ever. I defintiely think Messier is the better guy to have in this format.

Oh yeah - and Messier should go before Fetisov, Robinson, Esposito to name a couple.

Anyone in the 95-105 range who wouldn't mind dropping to 119?
