The next 5 teams are Montreal, Tampa, Buffalo, Phoenix, and Washington.
I really don't anticipate us being any better than these teams at this point in time. Ideally we draft in the top 3 to get to pick the top center or D in the draft. Here's to hoping that Skinner returns soon so Carolina goes on a run.
It's funny because Sutton knocked him out. Maybe he's not on the tank bandwagon?
Remember in 2009-10 when it looked like Carolina was going to run away with 30th? All it takes is a hot streak to screw yourself out of a lottery pick. Columbus and Ducks can catch up. It's a long season.

This^,Columbus and Anaheim as well still do play 3 more times against each other in the 2nd half of the season.

Ottawa looked like they had it in the bag last year too.
Isn't James Wisniewski out 6 weeks or something? Perhaps Columbus isn't going to give up their position without a fight.
Edmonton does play Columbus three more times and have yet to play the Ducks this year, so this race is far from over.
Yup, I'm not sure that we'll draft in the top 2, of course I wouldn't bet for or against it at this point. That said we need another elite player this June, so why fight it? That said this really needs to be our last high lottery pick.
They still have great players in Jeff Carter and Rick Nash that can win them games.
Nash and Carter give minimum heart and effort though. Their vets are as complacent as ours. I think Columbus, especially with Wiz's injury is a lock for 30th. However, it wouldn't surprise me to see Anaheim finish the season strong.
I was hoping this thread wouldn't show up until at least February/March. Another winter/spring spent on watching and keeping track of draft eligible players is always cool though...

Hopefully Johansen finishes strong and helps them win some games.
The bottom line is that these are the years that we need to grab as much elite talent as we can. The boys won't sit for losing forever.
no keep the 5th worst position keep some respect then win the lotto just to troll the league that little bit more then take yakupov/grigorenko and rw/c are done along with the lw then free agents on the back end

Yep. The Devils too. The hockey gods rewarded their hard work with the lottery win. They were by far the worst team and they managed to work their way "down" to 8th.
We are not going to make the playoffs so we masswell get the best pick possible and I would be fine with the 1st over all. We are actually pretty strong in prospects with the dmen that we have drafted. Every team needs a minimum of 4 really good top 6 players. Yakupov would give us that. I still think trading Hemsky and Gagner are the best thing to do long term. Our 2nd line centreman has to be bigger and stronger on the puck than Gagner. There are a couple of very good centremen in this draft also. If we don't get Yakapov I would want one of the centremen. Move Pitlick to right wing. I would be ok with the top two lines in 2 seasons being
Harti; RNH; Eberle - Harti is there for his size and puck battles in front of the net
Hall; centreman drafted in 2012; Pitlick

Dont the NJD lose their 1st this year for for Kovalcuk thing.

I hate watching them loose too, this is the best however for the long term. I do agree after this year I will be looking for steady improvement.
Getting awful tired of mildly cheering for this team to lose so early in the year once again. But it is what it is. If that's what it takes to finally have our owner see the incompetency in this organization, then let's go for the #1 overall once again.

- This won't stop until the Oilers can fill every roster position with lottery picks.
Thank god for low standards and the downright obsessive need to have a team full of high draft picks. If there is no improvement with two #1 overalls and Eberle who is equivalent to a high quality lottery pick, why do you think there will be a difference when we have 20 of them?
Three years straight of shooting for the bottom of the barrel... what a joke. Welcome to the never-ending rebuild led by incompetent coaching and incompetent management.
