Here's a question to ponder leading up to the game today...

With Klein back, which defenseman sits tonight?

Haven't quite figured that one out yet. Not really a clear cut favorite to sit...although I know who will get the most votes...there are definite drawbacks to sitting any of the guys.

Just on size alone, Cube or Hillen would get my nod to sit. Any hopes of seeing #33 back on the ice this afternoon???

Bouillon is in our top 4, he plays much larger than his size, and will play. Candidates really are Blum, Ellis, and Hillen.

Colin Wilson is out again tonight.

I agree cube is in he is miles better than hillen. Blum seems to be getting it again so if I'm trotz the question becomes has ellis played well enough to stay up? If so then hillen becomes the 7th man indefinitely. If not then ellis needs to head back to milwaukee to keep playing.

Did we ever find out what the wilson injury actually was?

Ellis has done nothing to merit being sat and he fills a pretty key role on the power play.

So it's really between Blum and Hillen for me.

With Blum playing better, I'd probably sit Hillen.

If/when the Preds target a defenseman in trade, it should be to replace Hillen. While Hillen is a more veteran dman than Josi/Blum/Ellis, he makes mistakes at a rate similar to (or higher) than any of the those three. He really doesn't bring too much more to the table beyond not burning a year towards free agency (which really only matters in the case of Ellis).

Now, beyond today, Ellis goes back down when Weber returns (or a trade is made) to continue playing a regular role. It's also possible that Blum goes back down as well if he falters again.

you raise an interesting point about eliis and the accrued season. what if weber isn't going to be back for a longer stretch? is it worth burning an accrued season for ellis?

Paper this morning quotes Trotz as saying "We'll know more on Tuesday"

So I would assume it's a legit injury and not the Flu.

FWIW, I think we will see Hillen scratched today due to the game being at home and Trotz having last line change to choose matchups.

Suter - Josi
Blum - Klein
Bouillon - Ellis

Crap. That means he's having an MRI. Hope to goodness its not a knee. Do we have any idea of the site of injury or when it happened?

Just saw that. Thanks!

Yesterday, Blum was who I kept coming back to too. His game, while noticably better, is still plagued by inconsistency. I've been particularly frustrated with his puck management. He has control, sees a play, then looks at his other options before making the pass. To me that says a lack of confidence. Make the read, see the play, trust your read, and make the play.

Hillen is Jack Hillen. He is a No. 7 defenseman. He's not going to learn anything new at this stage of his career. Therefore he has no benefit to sitting out.

Ellis has helped the PP look respectable in Weber's absence. They haven't scored yet, but taking him out of the lineup would severely hamper their chances of doing so...

I was hoping he just caught the bug from Klein, but it is looking more and more like that is not the case. Let's hope for some good news after further testing.

The only thing I noticed at the game doesn't really makes sense, but I'll toss it out here. Wilson came back to the bench bloody in the third period. It was his mouth, he kept putting gauze in it and kept spitting blood and ?maybe a tooth out. He kept playing and it wasn't bleeding when he came to the bench after having shot in the shoot out. I didn't see the hit or stick that caused it.

I can't imagine that this has anything to do with it though.

Yea! Hockey today

With Klein back, he's off the IR. What's our roster situation now? Anyone have to go on IR or to Milwaukee? Weber to IR retroactively?

ETA: ok ... seeing now that Weber goes to IR

Good to have another of our top4 dmen back from the shelf. The last two wins were exhausting, we need this in regulation especially with Calgary warming up.

Any updates from practice in relation to the potential lineup?
