Tim Connolly: Do you sometimes question his work ethic?

I've always been skeptic of his work ethic, especially after what many of Buffalo's finest have had to say about him. This year, he reminds me of Kessel before this season. Getting on these real hot streaks and then just floating around like he's nobody's business. I forgave Kessel because he was still young and was just pressing and frustrated, but for Connolly, he is a veteran and just looks way too ho-hum during these cold streaks he has and it's just plain pissing me off.

Not sure what he's supposed to do. The entire team is playing pretty poorly. If the Leafs had beat Montreal last night we wouldn't be having this conversation.

How about MacArthur? I have no idea how many times he was set up last night and he couldn't even hit the net. Remember Grabovski springing him on that breakaway from behind the net?

Yes, definitely. After his first ten games I've been very unimpressed with his on-ice work ethic. It seems like he barely even tries in board battles and might be our laziest forward. I'm glad he's only signed for one more year..

This is a well-documented issue that he had in Buffalo. No one should be surprised. I am a bit disappointed though considering how The Sun wrote that Connolly had worked out harder this off-season than he ever did in his life and was in great shape, looking to prove people wrong in Buffalo. Sure as hell doesn't seem like that.

I question why he isn't faster considering how shiny and smooth his head is.

Another American boy that Burkie looked after, two year contract was a joke, when Jason Arnott was available on a one year deal.

The helmet adds back any drag his bald head could have reduced. Maybe we need to place aerodynamics over safety

I worry that this is who Kessel becomes in a few years.

It's the effort that is being questioned here. Sure Mac is cold right now but you can't question his work ethic.

Was it just me or were there A LOT of missed nets last night for both teams. My favorite games are hard hitting, well goaltended 2-1 or 3-1 games. I'd much prefer one over a barnburner. But last nights game put me to sleep. Literally in front of the TV.

A tad disappointing, yeah.

On the other side of things, a similar article was written on Lupul and he's been our best player.

I guess in the end we come out even?

I agree. The league should also mandate that every player shaves their head and gets flames tattooed starting from behind each ear to give the impression they're going faster.

When it's so obvious how can you not. Nationalism has nothing to do with it, it's about 44 years of frustration.

I don't. I remember how everyone was going ga ga over that report that he worked hard over the summer. It's his playstyle, not his ethic. The guy's a skill player, not a bump and grind player.

Then vent your frustration into a competent post instead of blathering on about nationalism in a league that has nothing to do with it.

Connolly makes my LOAFING lineup. This lineup also costs approximately $1B/year.

Kovalev
Connolly
Penner

Kaberle
Roszival

Luongo

I don't care if you're frustrated. I'm tired of reading this crap here that Americans,Swedes,Russians are not as good as Canadians.

44 years of frustration you say. Are Americans at fault here?

Bad move. Burke is probably already regreting the 2nd year that he gave Connolly. The big question is why did the mangement team bring in a player that is lazy & has a reputation as such? Did they think he wasnt going to be lazy for them?

Never really liked Connolly or his ineffective dangles. Also, his signature move seems to be to pretend to back check hard, dive for the opposition and take a tripping penalty...
