The most probable reason is that the gif has to be under 20kb in size (50kb if you're a sponsor/mod/staff). HF resizes larger pictures into the avatar space of 125x125 pixels (or 150x150 for sponsors/mods/staff), but it won't shrink down the file size if it's too big.

I said this to nikolai Schenn on the last page:

these are prototypes. They even have a big "PROTOTYPE" watermark diagonally on them. I have no idea how much the design might change between now and the start of the season(if at all). So I wasn't really prepped for them to be ready for public consumption yet. In fact, if I could've helped it without possibly altering the display quality, I would've kept them above the usable file size for just that reason.

Avatars looking great! A little early for baseball avy's though, just threw up a playoff drive avatar for the Sens, but come spring time/summer, I'll definitely be sporting a Lawrie one.

Looking forward to Jays '12

absolutely it's too soon. But if I didn't get started early, I'd be sitting here in March going "oh ****, I have no idea what I'm doing" and we'd have crap for next season.

Paul Beeston on the Fan590 with Jeff Blair a few mins ago. Blair through some good questions at him. Was asked if the jays can contend this year against Bosox and Yanks, Beeston said yes.

Much more to the interview, should be up on the fan within the hour

A LOT would have to go 'just right' for this to be the case.
But returns to 2010 form from just Johnson and Rasmus would go a long way. Or early '11 season Adam Lind.
Long heralded guys like Snider or Drabek or Morrow - REALLY busting out, would too. Even just one of them.
Not any of these six possibilities are outside of the realm of possibility, but none are guarantees either. If I were a betting man, I'd be on one from each group picking it up, one from the top group getting a little closer. But that's just hunches.
Like I've said (repeatedly) one more reliable arm and one reliable more big bat changes things very drastically. Takes that a reasonable gues of 2/6 and turns it into 4/6, and a pretty significant upturn in terms of wins.

Ill try my best, I was driving home at the time they were talking. So I was half/half paying attention lol.

-Asked about Fielder, no 10 Year deals. If 5/6 years then only if the dollars make sense, if not. Nope

-Beeston was asked "Can you attend against Yanks/Sox?" Beeston replied with yes.

-Blair asked about "Fast forwarding" this team. Beeston replied with "We all would love to fastforward, I would love to fast forward. With the job that Alex has done thus far it makes sense to continue this path and be a winner for years opposed to just a year, We have 6 picks in the top 50 for this years draft so far"

-Was asked if Rogers was allowing them to spend money. Beeston replied with "Whenever we want to go out and do something, like we have done in years past. Rogers has given us what we needed to make something happen, we have never had an issue with rogers and we are actually great partners."

-Now that Rogers/Bell has become one in the purchasing of MLSE. Will Rogers be more adapt to spend money to the Leafs/Raptors and sorta leave the Jays as that third team looking in. Beeston replied with. "1, Cant see it 2. Don't Believe it 3. You will be the first to know."

Just a little rundown of what I fondly remember from the interview.

EDIT: Link for the interview is up. http://www.fan590.com/media.jsp?cont...119_114529_428

Seems this one has went under the radar

http://jaysprospects.com/2012/01/18/...niel-demorizi/

Quote:
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed 16-year-old short-stop Ronniel Demorizi out of San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic. The 6 foot 170lbs switch hitter signed for $105,000, according to Dominican Prospect League website.

Demorizi was ranked among the best participating short-stops in the DPL, according to the DPL website. He was named to the Under Armour All-America Game, DPL Elite Travel Team and the DPL All-Star Game.

Beeston doesn't really think that we can compete with NY and Boston this year. Obvious answer to the media though.

not necessarily. His answer could take many possibilities into account, such as every player having a career year, prospects becoming every day players, and one of the two teams having a below average year.

Not true. If you were around last year, which it seems like you weren't. When they asked them, they said they weren't ready to compete in 2011.

Jays sign Nelson Figueroa to a minor league deal. 37 years old, played for the astros last year with an era above 8....

Depth move.
