You never know though. Maybe its the piece to get the top 4 D the Oilers need

Wow, it'll be great to see Hartikainen. After last year I was sure he would be a regular in the NHL for us, then we signed way too many guys.. I hope they are not showcasing this kid, he's a keeper.

Petrell should not be going down, he's been a really good fourth liner. I hope he will sign here again if we finally get some space with the forwards, but this move won't make him happy.

the only thing I hope for is that he gets a bit more ice time down there and work with a bit more offence. Hope to see him back up here.

Management is just trying to distract us with all the moves they're making in the bottom six.. not touching the vets

Doubtful, we need his skill set going forward. It's just a matter of our team not knowing how in the hell to manage young players unless there are the cream of the crop.

Glad to see Hartikainen back, but I was wondering why Petrell didn't just shift over to 4th line center with Lander getting to work on his offense with the Barons. The PK just got worse so the tank must be in.

- i expect this is a move to add more crash & bang to the top 9, where Petrell's not going to play. if Jones is out, Hartikainen should slot in nicely for him.

- it's a good move to reward a hard-working Baron who showed promise at this level last year.

- Petrell is a stop-gap and does not have the upside that a guy like Hartikainen does.

- I don't think the team has any interest in carrying less than 5 Cs, especially with 4 games in six nights.

- the team has PK depth. we still have Smyth, Horcoff, Lander, Belanger to PK. other guys can fill in as needed.

Disappointed to see him going down, he's been a great 4th liner. I just hope this doesn't mean hartikainen takes up petrell's role in the 4th with PK time. Because Petrell is the better player for that role and it's not good for harti's developement to play >10 minutes a game. Teemu has offensive upside but is unlikely to get top six minutes with the current forward depth. So 3rd line I guess, eager playing in 4th.

Love to see Hartikainen get a chance.

Pretrell is the perfect 4th liner. I really think Lander could use some time on the farm - getting big minutes and hopefully generating some offense. Not sure why Petrell is being sent down tbh

It is the wrong move to send Petrell down but he has been a healthy scratch the last few games and its obvious that management just doesn't want to mess with a streak and he just needs to get some games in.

Does anyone else get the feeling this may be the first of several roster moves in the next couple of weeks.

At least hes doing his job, did anyone watch the Minne game where he was a BEAST on faceoffs?

The reason petrell was sent down is because he never went and played the boards on a fourth line shift, It would be Eager holding the puck and petrell and lander waiting somewhere in the middle not helping and the puck would be out and a scoring chance in our end.

He did good PK work but we have what left, 5 players who can play on the PK as forwards

Lander wasn't sent down because hes a 4th line center who pks, A more smart option would have been to waive Hordichuk because hes completely useless on the ice and rarely fights, and when he does fight he generally loses, all he does is yap, Its also unfair to that penalty taking moron Eager to have to play with such garbage of a player as hordichuk. And when its him lander/petrell the line relies on eager to do all the work. They are all minus players which bodes terrible for a 4th line

Petrell is merely not skilled enough to be a top 6, or even top 9 and not physical enough to be in the bottom 6, I don't think I've seen him throw a hit, or a good hit all year which is whats required if your line cant do anything offensively

And yes lander probably shouldn't be on the team, but he was lost in the hubdub and should RNH go down after 9 games, everyone forgot about lander

Edit: to clarify what this post sums up too; Sam ganger is useless

Petrell has been sitting for a couple games. I am hoping this is short term and just to get him some serious ice time in OKC.

Maybe this can help Petrell to work on his offensive game and game endurance. It's very different playing only 9 minutes a night compare to 15 minutes.

With Lander moving up to the 3rd line on the wing tonight, i'm guessing they are going to experiment a few games if Lander can get some offense going there and Harti on the 4th line. If it doesn't work, then send Lander to OKC and bring Petrell back.

May be it's kind of a message to Lander that we'll give you more ice time for offense, but if you are not ready for that yet, it's good for you to get some time in OKC to develop your offensive game.

Harti can move up to 3rd line if he plays well, and Petrell can go back on 4th line's wing if he's recalled.

So if Hartikainen is truly taking Petrell's place, will he be in the press box tonight?

Harti should have started the season in Edmonton and I was disappointed to see him being sent down. Its nice to see him back up but sending Petrell down instead of Lander really makes me question managements decision on this one.

Really happy to have Harski back... But not at Petrells expense.

Not sure what Lander is gaining by playing 5-10 mins a night.

Our management is soo dumb. Its actually getting quite pathetic.

I'm not saying anything about their development. I'm talking about their class as an organization. I think there is a reason UFA's sign with Detroit and it's just not because they win. It's because of how they treat their players.
