man, I'm really shocked Landry Jones is staying. I don't think he would've gotten past Washington in the top 10 this year.

although, I don't think hes going to be THAT great of an NFL QB

I'm looking forward to this game. Feeling cautiously optimistic.

Eh, I want Spags back, but the Giants really couldn't try to talk to him now and risk disrupting team preparation.

I refuse to get optimistic about the Gmen because whenever I do they come out and lose by 35 it seems. However, I am so sick of hearing everyone talk about how "on fire" the Falcons offense has been at the end of the season. Seriously? Yea every team they lit up has a terrible defense, maybe that played a factor. I think it was Carolina, Tampa, New Orleans (ok, but they play soft coverage when they are up by 20), and Indy.

But who knows if the Giants D will show up.

Yea, fairweather. You are enjoying something more because your team is successful again.

Assuming they beat the Lions, good luck shutting down Aaron Rodgers and that offense with the Saints defense.

—- Cruz caught 82 passes, tying Amani Toomer (2002) for second place on the Giants’ single-season list. Steve Smith’s team record of 107 catches in 2009.

—- His 1,536 receiving yards broke Toomer’s former team record by 193.

—- Cruz finished third in the NFL behind Detroit’s Calvin Johnson and New England’s Wes Welker in receiving yards. He is the first Giants player to finish in the top three since Toomer in 2002.

—- His 18.7-yard average was the highest among the 72 players who had at least 50 catches this season and was the highest by a Giant with at least 50 receptions since Del Shofner averaged 21.4 yards on 53 catches in 1962.

—- No NFL receiver had averaged at least 18.7 yards on at least 82 catches since St. Louis’ Torry Holt in 2000 (19.9-yard average on 82 receptions).

—-Cruz had seven 100-yard games this season, breaking the former franchise record of five, set by Shofner in 1963 and tied by Homer Jones in 1968.

—- He had four touchdown receptions of more than 70 yards. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, no pro player had done that since Otis Taylor of the then AFL Kansas City Chiefs in 1966. No Giants receiver had accomplished the feat since Jones in 1965.

—- Cruz’s five touchdown catches of at least 65 yards are the second-most in a season in NFL history. The record of six was set by Hall of Famer Elroy (Crazy Legs) Hirsch in 1951.

Huh? A fair weather fan is one who stops following everything about the sport and team as a whole when his team is sucking.

And yet you weren't in here as much when the 49ers were bad

I also didn't make one post in the baseball thread when the Yankees were on their WS run.

Damn, I didn't realise that Cruz's performance this year was quite that good. He's definitely in good company with some of those stats.

I could end up looking silly for this prediction but I honestly see Denver upsetting the Steelers.

And remember, he didn't play until week 3 when Hixon went down

Let's hope he keeps it up in the playoffs, and for years to come.

That really is incredible for Cruz. I highly doubt Hixon would have been half as productive if he was in place to be honest

Even if Cruz can't keep it up, hopefully he can start to draw double teams and let Nicks run free. Hakeem did quietly put up 1100+ yards himself while being hampered by an injury.

I'd take a third of that from Hixon and be a happy camper.

The Giants receiving corps was transformed from a weakness to a strength by those two guys.

Neither have I and that's a torn ACL 2 straight years. At this point he has to be special teams only, if he can even do that

I look at the Giants as a nice set of knockers heading into this weekend. Might be fun to look at for a few hours, but I think I'll plan on something with more appeal next weekend.

The Giants should look at Ryan Broyles from Oklahoma. He tore his ACL this season but when he was healthy he was Landry Jones favorite target. His injury will make him slip, he'd be a great pick for us.
