Lol, I stopped the video early because it looked like it was over. Agreed, coming back is a big no-no.

That Emery comment was ridiculous. If Emery backed his antics up with solid play, he wouldn't have been bought out. When you cause a disturbance AND you stink, there's really no reason to keep you around.

Yeah he needs to cool his jets a bit. Once he gets back its the groove his number will improve. He doesn't play well after extended lay-offs.

I rather look at it like this....

The kid clearly absolutely hates to lose. He's not a dumb kid, KK said it right, he probably woke up and knew what he did was wrong.

The Sens have drafted very hard on players that are competitive and have certain character traits. I want my goalie to be the most competitive of the bunch. Kids gotta mature but that's part of the reason he's down there in the developmental league.

It's a problem if stuff continues to happen. If it's channeled correctly I prefer this any day over a complacent ***** or a nonchalant weirdo like Bryzgalov.

So far he's been challenged once in this organization to prove he's got the mental fortitude of a winner. At the end of the day I don't really care what he does as long as he shows up at his best in the playoffs.

Yeah, all Emery did was take Ottawa the S.C. Finals and a 1st place overall finish...not solid at all.

Meh, he was solid for a year or so but many goalies can be solid for a year, like Leighton for example. Considering Emery hasn't had much success after he left Ottawa, I dont think we lost a star goalie or anything. He was another average NHL goalie, if he were a star then you live with the headcase part. Lehner proved last year he didn't just take a team to the finals, he stole it for them.

It's not like they cut Emery loose the day after the finals, that was when they gave him the big contract, it was everything after that point that prompted the buyout.

So I heard about this and thought about what it would look like in my head based on what I had heard about it, and this is NO WHERE CLOSE to as bad as I thought.

Yeah he pushed a bit and probably through out some bad words, but beyond that -- it really was him just trying to get out of the refs grip. Meh.

I do think that at a higher level Lehner will need to cool down a bit - and if he starts fights with people constantly, he will get in some trouble. But I don't find that clip ALL that concerning.

I thought it was pretty dumb. Didn't see a reason for it.

Taken from that article for those who only watched the video:

Quote:
There was no immediate word on the length of any suspension – Binghamton had the day off from practice Sunday and don’t return to action until Wednesday – but in a similar incident in 2003, former Senators goaltender Ray Emery received a 10-game suspension. Following an appeal, that sentence was later reduced to six games.
So I expect that will be about the same for Lehner.

Hmmm... Not the brightest thing to do, but I didn't see the game or what led to the fight.

I like Lehner's competitiveness and I don't think he's a head case, he just likes to win and he probably thought the scrum was lopsided.

Anyway, I agree that he gets suspended, but I don't really get why the refs didn't let him in on it (although I don't know much about the rules of engagement for goaltenders). Also, I really don't get why two of the refs got involved with him rather than breakup the rest of the stuff going on.

a bit OT, but it was Lalime in net for our president trophy season. We only placed fourth in the east during 06/07 season.

This completely reminds me of the Midget game I reffed the other day. It was a 3rd player in, and as a linesman it's soooo hard to stop them when they are determined to get involved.

Idiotic refs...practically everyone on the ice are fighting each other and punching. So why hold on to a goalie that want to join the action.

The pathetically small ref was looking confused standing in a corner so he decides to greet and grab a goalie. Well why not stop the skaters from brawling??

Was the other goalie scared asked he didn't wanna fight and the ref to save him?

Only reasonable explanation. You don't let one party brawl it out and stop others from doing the same.

I love it. Just as I loved it when Emery got involved in the brawl in Buffalo. I like my goalies to have some spunk and some character.

meh no big deal here. Goalies like to get into the action once in a while too. I've had a couple of fights as a goalie in my junior career too. 'Twas fun...
