This team is for real. No way any of the last 4 or 5 Ranger teams come back and win this game.

3 stars:

Rupp
Hank
Staal

Hank is so awesome haha, perfect suit and hair already. He should get a guest spot on Mad Men as a Swedish businessman.

Their excuse is no Jagr.

oh snap, Henrik calling out the officials...

Its like.. I GET that he was technically "Holding the stick".. cept he wasnt... he was trying to get it off his damn throat... not like he was just clutching it to get it away from the defender the whole time. Lame.

Hank calling out the questionable calls in his conference right now.

Good.

I wonder if the call was officially 'Holding The Stick With Your Neck'.

Easily one of the most absurd calls I've ever seen in a hockey game.

Can we stop talking about the officiating? We won the game, and we don't have to play any more Winter Classics.

Let's just enjoy the win.

This. Ice was awful, puck bouncing everywhere. Missed loads of stuff because of the ****** cameras.

I've had my HBO fix now so I honestly hope we don't play in the winter classic again in the near future. In my opinion it shouldn't count as a regular season game, its just too different to normal circumstances playing in an arena. Such a gimmick.

ummm... he was clearly trying to grab his stick in order to use it to propel himself forward to give himself a chance at the empty net. Selfish and undisciplined play by Captain Clutch... ing the stick.

The Cally call: While you certainly don't have to agree with the call itself, Cally did hold on to the stick some. Borderline I'd say, but it's not phantom and it doesn't indicate a fix.

McDonagh: That was clearly a bad call. But instead of a fix, or whatever, I'd like to invoke that the ref missed the push, and saw McDonagh plow through the net on his own.

Anyway, great comeback win. Showing great character and hustle. This team is really good, and will likely be even better next year.
How about seriously you?

The penalty shot: There is no possible way the ref saw that on the ice. Too many players in front of him. There is also no definitive replay showing that McDonough put his hand around the puck. The refs also wasted little time making sure this was the right call, which is negligence on their part, as well as very presumptuous that the puck didn't go in for that reason. Absolute embarrasment of a call. "It's really not that hard to see why they called it"? Are you ****ing kidding me? Not called on ice, replay doesn't show anything, they don't even go to the replay to make sure, AT A CRITICAL POINT IN THE GAME?! Disgusting call made on an assumption, no definitive angle from either a ref or a camera, with the sole purpose to try and send the game into overtime.

The Cally call: Equally as disgusting. A hook as well as a high stick. Cally grabbed it to protect his neck/face, not as much hold it. Clearly the hook was deliberate so that Callahan would not be able to score on the empty. That's a direct prevention from an almost certain goal. I find it laughable that the 2nd time I've ever seen an embellishment penalty called in my life it comes in a scenario like that.

Mcdonough: Another terrible call. When have you ever seen a player so dramatically knock off their own net off of its moorings. Players who do that do it very subtly, they don't go flying back first into the net. I find it hard for the ref to have not seen or even assumed that Mcdonough was pushed into the net because he was off balance flying towards the net at an unnatural speed, back first. That was an interference. If the ref didn't see it unfold then he should have assumed that there was a collision and the net was just knocked off circumstancially. Instead, he called a delay of game penalty, because "he did not see the call".

Additionally, how about the hook on Anisimov missed in the 2nd period? The hook on Gaborik missed in the 3rd period? The slash on Hagelin in the 2nd period?

Missed calls. Yes they may have been accidentally missed, but that only reaffirms the point that the refs were terrible and should be criticized. The last 10 minutes only goes to show that not only are they poor at officiating games, but they are corrupt. Disgusting. These 2 points can affect how an entire season shapes up - see the Rangers-Flyers game from a few years ago where whoever won made the playoffs, whoever lost went home (Flyers won and went on to almost win the Stanley Cup).

Thats exactly it. What does Cally gain by holding his stick??? He has him clearly beaten with an open net in view! In no way should that situation EVER equal a Flyers positive. Awful call.

GWG just narrowly trumps a great game from Boyle (big hits, great puck cycling and several huge faceoff wins in the 3rd) and Prust who was very direct and made 2 solid passes on Rupper's goals.

Anisimov B
Stepan C
Gaborik B+
Hagelin B+
Richards B
Callahan B+
Dubinsky B
Boyle A-
Mitchell C-
Prust B+
Fedotenko C
Rupp A+
Girardi B-
McDonagh B-
Stralman C+
Del Zotto C
Staal C+
Bickel C
Lundqvist A+

Richards scores the game winning goal and only gets a B? Tough room. Not sure what Staal did to warrant a C+ either. For a first game of the season in tough surroundings against a good team, he was pretty damn solid.

**** yea boys!!! This team just gets it done plain and simple. We overcame a 2-0 deficit and worked through 3 ******** calls in the last 10 minutes of the game like it was nothing. I think Hank clinched the vezina with this performance. **** you Hartnell!! Cant wait for 24/7 this week!

Say what you want about Torts, but I highly doubt Avery would have made an impact the way Rupp did today.

he was pretty quite other than that. Made a few good passes, but wasn't really visable outside the goal
