"A jimmie for a jimmie makes the whole world rustled." — -31-
The Good: This team DOES NOT QUIT!!! Big stage, down 2, come back to gain the lead, and overcome some awful refing. Lots of character on this team. Also, Torts completely out coached another damn good coach. Seeing Staal back out there.
The Bad: The defense wasn't great tonight. I thought a few of our favorites had a rough day.
The Redden: These refs. Almost ruined the game....keyword being almost
The AWESOME: Those uniforms looked BEAUTIFUL on TV. Hope we keep these going forward. And Torts will be fined, and he probably knows it, and to him its totally worth it.
Anyone really know what happened with Jagr---love the coach saying go ask the GM but I didn't bench him--if he was injuried(I heard a leg injury)why would he sit on the bench the whole game--I bet the other players were saying WTF.
John Tortorella said on the NHL Network that the game was reffed “horribly.” Torts wondered if the league and NBC had meetings about putting the game into overtime. He called the third period “disgusting.”
Richards scores the game winning goal and only gets a B? Tough room. Not sure what Staal did to warrant a C+ either. For a first game of the season in tough surroundings against a good team, he was pretty damn solid.
Richy took a tripping penalty, was quiet for 30 minutes and did have three great scoring chances he didn't finish on. Is a B supposed to be bad these days anyway?
Staal was outplayed by the top line Flyers and was just a little slow. Only playing 10 minutes is also factored in. Made some nice stickchecks but lacked the typical Staal edge. I'm not being critical because I know it'll take him 10-15 games. Again, I stand by the C+.
Glad people are reading and questioning my gradings though.
