I take back every bad thing I've ever said about Mike Rupp. I was always a huge critic of the signing because I thought adding him was redundant, but he really has been a good player to have in the lineup. Its something I've really noticed since his return.
He's Sather's dream goon, because while he does fight, he's more than just a goon. Finally someone who can stick up for our players and not be a liability on the ice. His two goals in the Winter Classic really powered us through when the rest of our offense seemed rather inept. I just wish him better health in the future. If he continues to play like this and protect our players, he'll end up well worth his contract.
Bravo Mike, bravo.

BUT, as somebody who was very outspoken against him at the start of the season, the guy has been fantastic. Mucking it up, providing a good veteran presence, and now being clutch.
No offense bro but if you were bad mouthing Rupp before he got here you need to watch more than just Rangers games.

Loved the Rupp signing from the start, because he's exactly what you want out of an enforcer in today's NHL. Glad to see him doing what he's paid to do.
I said it in the off-season, he is a bigger version of Brandon Prust. He is the ideal 4th liner. His teammates love him, he takes care of everyone and he plays the game the right way. He is what a tough-guy should be. He is the prototypical player that should be a tough-guy on a team.
I'll admit I was very skeptical about Rupp, didn't necessarily dislike him, was more just on the fence. So far from what he's been bringing, especially after the MDZ incident the other night, love the guy!
Rupp has spent most of his career playing in our division, I'm not sure why so many Rangers fans thought he was just another goon when we have seen this guy play many times through the years.
He scored the GWG in the 2003 SCF and had a hat trick against us two seasons ago. Most goons aren't capable of doing that. He's a legit hockey player unlike many enforcers in this league.
didn't like the dude cuz of the jerseys he wore prior to ours, but he's really grown on me. i now know the satisfaction Pens fans felt when he scored that hatty on us that one time. it's a beautiful thing. he's fantastic and i'm really glad he's here. he'll definitely be key come playoff time.
on the topic of the salute, anybody find it strange jagr never did the salute in all his time as a ranger and as soon as he signs with another team hes all over it again?
As a person who likes a team to be able to take care of themselves no matter what and likes players who can step up when called upon, I LOVE having both Bickel and Rupp added to this team with Prust makes a HUGE difference. The team was getting by before. I feel like they can dictate the terms of their battles now.
It's like when Sauer got to the team last season. He added a different dimension to the back-end. Rupp adds that to the forwards and he plays regular shifts. He hits, intimidates, sticks up for his teammates and can create chances.

seriously... they make it out to be that he has saluted after every goal he ever scored. I never saw it in his time with the rangers. no idea why he put it away and brought it back now... it'd be interesting to ask him though.
