eh, Marty had a pretty good second half of last season and I think that kind of fooled them a little into thinking they were OK in the goalie department. Of course, that was behind Lemaire's team...
So they signed Hedberg again and figured that would be good enough, but the problem is that even if they just ride Hedberg, that still doesn't give them very reliable goaltending. Hedberg also fluctuates between solid and poor, and in fact probably benefits from sharing time with Marty right now rather than being the #1
But in the end, who's going to want Brodeur right now? He's not going to want to be traded somewhere to be a backup, but he's not playing good enough to be a #1 on any team.
Also, what's the deal with Wedgewood? Don't know much about him but I see people talking like he's a surefire #1 goalie, while his stats just seem to be good, not amazing
Didn't hear anything of the sort. He simply discussed Parise's potential options. Then agan, I wasn't watching intently.
I found the Ryan discussion more interesting.
Nope, he said it. I caught the end of the interview (last minute or so). Said Parise has earned the right to test the FA market as a UFA and thinks he'll do so. He said the Devils have said time and time again the chances of them trading him are slim to none, and that it could end up biting them in the ass.
The latter part I heard for sure. I do think it would be best to trade him should there be no movement in negotiations by the TDL, but he won't be traded with the Devils still in the thick of the playoff race.
