I'm surprised people are on him for that considering he was completely gassed at the end of a shift and made a strong effort to race for the iced puck and potentially win the game for us. Some players wouldn't have even tried in that situation.
Oh but he did not touch it so he is done as an Oiler inexcusable not to get to that puck exhausted.

Good win Oilers, despite some shaky goaltending.
Certain posters have a lot more free time when the Oilers win.

They are ranked mid-20s...no shock with today`s result on the PP for them.

Too gassed to lean forward?

The Chicago broadcast team said something to the effect of, "He just didn't want to get hit!"

I wish Ray Ferraro would have been doing the game...

Not me, but I planned to buy one this morning and was going to take them. Any idea what the odds were? I never got around to checking.

Trade him and get whatever you can for him.
Can't agree more besides the obvious good stories of the game (Sutton, Hall, Eager,Smyth - who was atrocious up until recently) two plays stood out for me:

1. Hemsky's weak attempt at reaching the icing
2. Gagner getting badly outmuscled in the neutral zone late in the 3rd costing a scoring chance

Hemsky we can only hope starts to get going so his value increases and 2 hopefully someone sees Gagner's upside by trade deadline

If he touched it he would have driven his trade value up a little bit more...it all counts.

Well considering it was an icing he didn't have any choice in who was on the ice. And Hemsky was exhausted on that play, like many have said before.

It was icing, which is why you were mad that he didn't win the race for the puck...remember?

Cant take a player off the ice when there is an icing.

Weak attempt at reaching the icing? He hustled the length of the ice at the end of a shift when he was completely gassed

Re: Hemsky

Had a good game, controlled the puck, only the odd giveaway, seemed to have his feet moving.

The icing....he was completely exhausted but c'mon people, he coasted into the corner watching for the hit coming from the D-man. You all know you saw it.

Although I'm not sure he needs to be crucified for it.

He hustled to beat the Hawks player but then chickened out because he didn't want to get hit. All he has to do was flick his stick and lean out to touch it. Game over if he does that.

Your right, good call, Renney did have no choice, forgot about that.
But regarding Hemsky, I don't care if your "gassed", he had the inside track, looked over and the puck and the game became secondary. I love Hemmer but that was one of the non-highlights of his career.

Happy to get the win, we didnt make it easy on ourselves.

To chime in on Hemsky:

It wasn't the worst thing ever..but to me it basically summed up his time here - he's always leaving you wanting a little more.

I get that he was gassed but man...if you just reach and touch the puck its like a guarunteed win! I actually thought he played well tonight too its just things like this that make him a frustrating player for me to watch.

If the hawks won the faceoff and scored no one would be giving him a free pass for that.

Anyways, take the 2 points and run. Somehow we have Chicago's number

Very cowardly play by Hemsky.

Hope Carcillo is out for the year with an injury after that hit on Gilbert. First suspend him 20 games so he doesnt get paid to add insult to injury.
