The NYR defence is the youngest in the league.
The same type of well the leafs are young give them time excuse
Tortarella doesn't have room for young excuses on his team - he gets results.
And smart of the ranger GM to secure a great goalie to backstop the team.
All great moves to make the team competitive, strong and elite top 8 team (even with a young defensive core)
You do realize that Lundqvist was drafted ten years ago, right? We have a large number of young goalie prospects who could potentially turn out to be excellent NHL goaltenders.
The rangers also play a much more defensive-oriented system - as a result their D generally look better.
The leafs play a high-risk, high reward, offense first system. Perhaps you disagree with that - and that's fair. But having our D play in a system where they are much more likely to be exposed....I can practically guarantee any D-man in the league is going to look slightly worse in toronto than they would otherwise, except for perhaps Chicago/Philly/Vancouver's D.
