When is Laughlin going to bring back the "O from D" bit?

JapersRink: Carlson's been on the ice for the last six goals the Caps have allowed. Ovechkin has been on for 10 of the last 11 they've scored.

Big response goal.

Orlov thought he could teleport. Such a rookie move.

i like that we have gone mega offense on defense, and JJ has ordered the troops to be aggressive in the O zone. Makes sense.

Carlson and Alzner are going to be below 20 minutes TOI at the current rate.

Vokoun has looked good. Best I can remember him looking so far this season. Looks like that 5 game run by Neuvy woke him up. Good to see one of them start to grab hold of the #1 goalie spot.

I dont see the problem with letting Green get a few games with Alzner in a shutdown role. Carlson is obviously still learning defense - hell he is just a kid. Take a little pressure off him now.

Dare I think Green could stand to have a simple stay back game right now.

But I think its the best I have seen in consecutive games in some time. Very small sample size. The true test is once having a good one, is it not being solved in the playoffs.
it look a LOT better for sure. coincidence w Dale? I dont think so.....as I dont believe on coincidences.

Ovy playing well helps a lot....but again, that happened w Dale, so....

The powerplay isn't Hunter, it's Johnson. That being said, it's worlds better than it's been in nearly two years.

It is awesome! To me, Orlov is becoming a cornerstone for the defense and he is rapidly getting better. I remember when people told me this past summer Orlov wasn't clearly ready for the NHL when I chose him and Eakin to be with the Caps. Of those two prospects I am glad Orlov has stepped in as fast as he has. Our defensive corps when healthy is much better than any other in the Ovechkin era, perhaps the Ron Wilson era. I am feeling more comfortable with the defensive corps now and starting to believe we should get that 2nd line center. I'm all for keeping Johannson on the wing fulltime. Good grief Mike Green needs to stay healthy though.

Go Caps!

How and why did Schultz get so much playing time under BB? That to me is astounding.

i was kidding but, I really dont think he is trying to play through anything. If there was anything lingering, at all, from the groin.....he would be wearing a suit. Seriously, they arent dressing him at even 95%. I think they are dressing 7 D because of Semin and to also to ease him back into game shape given the situation with 28.

I put together a montage of his best moments as a Capital for when we inevitably deal him:

Jeff Schultz Retrospective

Convert Schultz to a W, he'll be a great net presence.

It is a bit puzzling. But the only thing I remember Bruce ever saying positively about Sarge, was that he was fearless.

I figured it was because he didnt fear ignoring Bruce's requests to be more aggressive. He never exuded confidence to me on the ice. In fact in playoff games, he looked the most nervous to me of all the caps.

The recent tick up in PP efficiency may be attributed to JJ, who can tell - maybe its both he and Dale. But I am loving our passing. Its more than Ovi not breaking his stick on a flub.

Grade A passing is underated. Everyone likes to talk goal scorers and offside one timers, but great passing makes them largely empty net goals. Like Ovi's PP goal, he had a ton of net.
