Should look at a combo of Ruutu and Gleason/Allen for a first rounder and a decent prospect.

Needs:
- Top six forward with size, preferably a first line center
- Top-pairing defenseman with a strong two-way game
- #1 goaltender capable of a .915 save percentage

Assets:
- Anyone not named Kessel or Phanouf. It's unlikely we'll find improvements on these guys, and it'd be nice to complement them, not replace them. Kadri or Gardiner are next. Both look like future potential impact players, but Burke's MO is about improving the team long-term, so both could be used to acquire a a young center. That leaves Reimer, Lupul, Kulemin, Colborne as pieces with value, but nothing mind-blowing. Grabovski, MacArthur, Liles, Gunnarson, Frattin and Franson with decent value. Armstrong, Lombardi, and Komisarek have limited value.

Ideally we'd like skilled forwards for the top 6. A pass first guy to play with Benn and Eriksson ideally.

Your mind still stuck in 2006? Ribeiro is not a cancer as some people make him out to be. People with your mindset can't seem to forget what happened years and years ago! Move on!

i agree that trade made sense. someone replaced peckham with sutton and i wouldnt mind doing that either but i like both players. sutton unfortunately gets penalized for being big alot but his huge body and reach make him very good at taking lanes. we miss him when he is out of the lineup more than missing peckham.

I dont think you are getting a 1st line centre for "anyone not named Kessel or phaneuf"

Hemsky is that kind of guy.

actually its from just about every game i watch of him. i will rehash a moment from an oilers versus stars game. ribeiro lets oiler win race for puck but eases up and has morrow come in and take body on puck possession dman, then cross checks dman about 6 times in kidneys as he stays to perimeter. dman takes the cross checks and gives a shoulder back, ribeiro throws his head back like he has been shot which makes his helmet go flying off. dman (gilbert) wins the battle but smid comes to close and misses the kick pass. ribeiro quits acting now that he sees a loose puck and skates it back into the oilers zone where he goes behind the net. sweeping from one side to the other behind the net and head down with no helmet on, smid has him lined for a hit to be timed when ribeiro comes to his side... but ribeiros head goes down and smid skids and jumps to avoid a very likely suspension (now tha\t his heads down).. ribeiro gets there untouched due to the fear of suspension and killing a player.

personally i say take the 10 games and finish him... but im not the one who would have to live with it i guess.
the type of player that puts his face to the boards on the cycle specifically so you dont hit him. the kind of player that makes a mockery of every rule. the kind of player that will eventually be finished off by someone that says...well you know what im not gonna avoid taking the penalty ...you put yourself in that position so be it deal with never having the same brain as before this moment. boom.

Stewart and Steen are two of my personal favorites, so yeah, I'm probably overpaying.

green is over rated slightly and semin is a softy but... wow

ill say that this is one of those trades that i think doesnt make sense as far as marketplace value but would be good for the two sides to approach. green could fetch that kind of return on his own but do you want to continue to sit with an asset like semin now that you have stewart. i would say that stl adds a 1st. the caps would not be getting full market value on the assets but they can flip the 1st and their own in a package for a top d.

I'd give up Robidas for Hemsky+depth.

Hemsky, Huselius, Boyes, Ruutu, maybe Stoll would be on my list of deadline UFA targets assuming they're all healthy and not sucking horribly.

Blues need a shut down defenseman, not a Mike Green type defenseman. I have absolutely ZERO interest in Alexander Semin, we've already been down the half hearted effort and soft player in Brad Boyes. No thanks. Alex Steen is one of the last guys I traded from our roster as well.

I'd be okay with a 5th rounder.

And I'd be fine with just Hemsky for Robidas straight up.

so more of a future than a present day depth. ok sounds good if we keep it to a forward. we would be more willing to move a signed player rather than a pick because of contract caps (50).

what are you looking for with morrow? id want him for the 3rd line and lots of pk. never mind his cap hit doesnt translate to what his skill set is.
