Why can't anything happen? Even something small would be nice, like the Letestu trade. I laughed at it at first, but it seemed to work out pretty well. They have to make at least some more small changes if they won't do the big things that are needed.
This incessant negativity is not helping. Arneil is trying as hard as he can, and the pressure from the media and the fans has him about ready to crack. Umberger said in the paper this morning that the team is petrified regarding possible trades.
The fanbase is choking off the jackets to the point of suffocation. The constant pressure to win...I mean people come on!! With the plague of injuries we have had, and the brutal schedule....no team could be successful given these circumstances. Like Howson has said, the fans just need to learn to be a little more patient!!
This is the best sarcasm ever.
Even the '92 Pens or '86 Oilers couldn't have won under these circumstances folks. What, with the losses of non-consequential players for immaterial amounts of time and the constant pressure to actually win games? It's amazing they don't commit suicide!
My only hope comes from the ACA. The ACA brothers stand tall and cheer- no matter what. They set an example and a standard that ALL fans should follow.

AAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHH. Those self-promoting, scarfwearing geeks are quite good at talking the talk, but WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY????
Seriously, you wanna get a good laugh, troll on over to their facebook page and see the negativity. They are NOT the standard I want for my team's fanbase. Can't even sell the tickets they bought for their "stand tall and cheer" section. All talk, very little actual support, other than draping scarves over anyone even remotely connected to CBJ in hopes of further self-promotion.
NYE was sold out, but hours before the game they still have 12 seats in "their section" left despite deep discounts and promos.
I know selling tickets is tough this year, but for crap's sake, stop acting like this group is diehard. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The group of family and friends I bring to most games this year has outnumbered the dweebs who "stand tall and cheer".
I give credit to a few of the founders. Their hearts are in the right place but the 227 "fanatic section" has been a BUST EXTRODINAIRE. To call the 4-10 folks who show up there... occaisionally... a standard the all fans should follow? Ugh. Pathetic.
So, financially, currently McConnell owns the biggest chunk and there are 3 more owners - Wolfe, Pizutti (sp?), and Crane. Once the Arena deal is done (I'm not sure exactly where that stands at the moment), there will be 5 owners with McConnell still being the majority owner (barely), followed by Nationwide (35% stake IIRC) then Wolfe, Pizutti & Crane. I think McConnell's share drops to 49%, does that mean the other 4 can overrule him or not?
My question is then, are they waiting until the Arena thing goes through (should be soon, right?) so that the Nationwide rep (is there one?) comes on board with the remaining owners before "big boy decisions" get made?
Just a question of timing coupled with who gets a voice in the proceedings? Just a thought...
Actually, my biggest concern is how is Anaheim doing it? I mean, keeping up with us in the loss column. We have been sucking and losing, sucking and losing, but still can't gain any ground on Anaheim? How are they doing it? What level of suck have they found that we don't know about?
This is a matter of grave concern. We are into serious sucking and Anaheim is keeping up with us.
This must be why folks want Arniel fired. They saw how it worked in Anaheim and want some of that extra suck.

As I understand it, McConnell will own 51%, Nationwide will own 30%, and Wolfe/Crane/Pizutti will split the remaining 19% once the arena deal is done.

I don't believe McConnell's share drops below 50.1% and he will remain the majority owner.
JR needs to sell the team. If he's holding on to it to try and keep up his dad's name, he's not doing a very good job at it. Its apparent that Jmac had the business pants in the family....putting a person in the role of president that has zero experience in that field (or at the very least, continuing with that person past an interim period) is probably the worse business decision you can make, and we're seeing why. At least Maclean was a good president and did a pretty good job at selling hockey to non hockey market.....Priest has done nothing but deteriorate that foundation
I mistakenly hoped that once the arena deal was done that Priest would move on. From what I remember he was sold as someone to come in and shore up the financials and fix the arena lease. Now that has been completed and his further employment is going to do nothing but hurt the future financial health of this team.

If he sell him this team will end in Canada or Seattle
I have always despised that scene beyond anything words can describe, and if I was in that room I probably would have shot Baldwin's character dead on the spot with absolutely no remorse whatsoever, because that's one of the purest expressions of heartless evil I have ever seen portrayed. I do not measure success by the ability to screw people over and abuse them, and I'm not interested in folks who want those sorts of people. And if that's the standard folks are looking for, then I will happily be content with mediocrity.
I don't know what disgusts me more - the performance on the ice, or certain fans' reactions to it.

You speak as though the arena deal is fully completed and nothing remains to be done.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Mike is a successful businessman. I'm kinda hoping, after this year, Mike will remain to handle the business side of the operation and Craig Patrick is made the Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations to handle the hockey side of the house.

I'm not too sure of that. However, I am shocked by what this season has done to your outlook. If I were a doctor, I'd prescribe staying away from this team for awhile.

Hope so, because right now his attitude is a laughing "What are you gonna do?".
Nice guy and all, but that's not what I call leadership.

I don't care where you are, if you go 12 years with one playoff appearance and no playoff wins, you are going to breed a lot of apathy. I'm surprised as many people head down to the rink as currently do so. Columbus imo has done a good job of supporting this pathetic franchise. It's the franchise that needs to step up, not the fans.

Respectfully, what is the ACA trying to "self-promote"?
I think the most ridiculous discussion is the "I am a bigger fan than you are". Did it ever occur to you that most people that enjoy the ACA are already fans and ticket holders? Therefore, the people that tend to hear their message already have tickets. Good for them for trying to fire up the crowd and trying to have a good time at the games. I don't care if it is one fan or 30. At least they cheer during the the play on the ice and not just when they get their face on the Jumbotron, burritos are dropping from the rafters, or a t-shirt cannon is pointing at them.
I believe anyone that watches a CBJ game at home, heads to the arena with a free ducket, or is a season ticket holder can be described as a diehard fan. It isn't like there are any bandwagon CBJ fans.
