After the third periods against Sweden and Canada, I'm starting to suspect sitting on a lead isn't Russia's forte.

Obviously rigged officiating in the last 10 minutes to try and give Canada a chance to tie it. Generally entertaining game. Good for Kuznetsov, he has faced alot of adversity off the ice this past year.

Probably, but then they should've blown the whistle on the play which they didn't. So in one way I'm glad it hit the post so we don't have to deal with the **** storm coming from either a disallowed, or allowed goal.

That WAS a brutal non-call.
It was interference and roughing at the same time. It was the worst non call I've ever seen until 20 minutes later when the slash to the legs on the clear shot at the net happened

Even the refs couldn't give Canada the win. Terrible non-calls in the end.

Major props to Makarov. Vasilevsky looked godlike, but he just played too much in the past two days. To come into the game like that and save it... nerves of titanium!

Can't believe Canadians are proud of their team for showing up in the final sixth of the game... when NHL teams do that, they are mercilessly chewed up.

Russia got their breaks in the first period, Canada in the third (that bounce nearly killed the Russians).

Delighted to look at those painted faces.

Complete meltdown by team Canada but man, did that make the third period exciting. Most exciting third I've seen in a while. Canada didn't deserve to be rewarded for their bad play/behaviour in the first two periods but it would have been a hell of a win if they'd comeback. All things considered it worked out the way it was supposed to and the team that deserved to win, did. Congrats to Russia.

- Russia plays like complete horses anus from 6-1 to 6-5 in the 3rd

And my biggest problem... literally the two worst calls I've seen in my life (not calling the Connelly push, or the breakaway slash). Those refs should be suspended or fired. When you're not calling the most obvious penalties there can possibly be just because a team is up a lot, you're doing your job wrong and someone can do it better. Russia winning averted a disaster tonight for the sanctity of international hockey reffing
You Mad?

The game is over, it was a great attempt at a comeback, but it wasn't meant to be. /game

Good night!

Nice to see us getting in front of the net with 15 minutes left in the game rather than right from the beginning.

Your actually not thinking if you think Ryan Murray was the reason Canada lost.

Something needs to change again in the canadian philosofy of the way they pick there teams. The past 2 teams have had major flaws in them, in the fact that they just don't show up for entire periods at a time. The russians in 2010 (3rd period), the americans in 2011 (2nd and 3rd periods), the russians in 2011 (1st and 2nd periods).

Before the canadians were not always the most skilled, but those teams would always give it 110%.

The most hilarious part of that sequence was the ref's position. Literally two meters from the two players.

In wasn't rigged in the sense they said "hey we have to get Canada the win" it was more like "awe the poor losing team, we can't let this game get out of hand" they do this quite often and not just with Canada. Closer score = more viewers + $$$

Let's be real here, the only reason Canada was able to get that close is because of absolutely ******** referees. First, they let Connoly uppercut a Russian player without even getting a penalty (shoulda been game misconduct) and then they didn't award a CLEAR penalty shot on Kuznetsov being tripped on a breakaway...come on Canada...I realize it's your home ice, but man...

Nevertheless, good job on playing till the last second. Too bad our guys were really tired in the third as it seems to be the case this tourney which is kinda weird considering we were a third period team last year.

I don't know, the Sens have been doing that for the last 3 games and it's been very entertaining.

exactly. They're not a trap and defend kind of squad, they run and gun and burn out late. They are also very very weak in front of their own netminder leaving extremely juicy rebounds and chances for deflections

Never has, never will.
Lifer talking here. With 6:1 I wasn't comfortable at all. Knew it was coming.
