Minnesota Wild(21-13-6) @ Vanny(24-13-3) 1/4/2012 9PM CST on FSN+

Minnesota(21-13-6) @ Vancouver(24-13-3)
At Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia
Drop the puck at 9PM Central Time on Fox Sports North +

STORY OF THIS NORTHWESTERN SHOWDOWN

We're doin' pretty good this season

In their last 10, Vancouver is 6-3-1 and at home they are 11-5-2. The Sedins combined have an incredible 90 points.

But such success will leave them cocky and overconfident.

lol look at these guys. Minnesota? More like Minnie Mouse, amirite?
Even though he completely let down his team last season in game 7, Roberto has posted a .914SV%, 2.48GAA, and is 16-8-3 in his 27 games this season

After an awesome start to the season, your Minnesota Wild have slumped in recent weeks. In their last ten, they are 1-6-3 and on the road they have dropped to a mediocre 10-7-3.

How did such a thing happen?

Bet you guys are really missing me right about now, rite?
Dr. James has yet to play this season, and his last game was in April of 2010. Ouch.

lol no

Injuries have decimated the Wild roster, but the team has seemingly gotten healthier and Devin Setoguchi's return is imminent.

U mad I'm comin?
Setoguchi has 13 points in 28 games. Less than he was expected, but he has missed significant time so far this season.

Joining Setoguchi on the IR list are two chaps named Clayton Stoner and Casey Wellman, who are also expected to be coming off of the list soon.

I really wasn't injured. I just got sat for being too much man
The pothead has 29 penalty minutes in 29 games, including one fight a few games ago

I got a girlfriend nao so no more wrist injuries if you kno what I mean
Wellman has two goals and two assists in his meager seven games this season.

Mikko Koivu, who beat Seto to full recovery, seems to have picked up his play recently and has 32 points in 36 games this season, and in the last four has two goals and three assists.

O, hai guyz

No one cares, Koivu! I have 28 points!

BEAST MODE ENGAGED

I'm coming for you, Kess-*****

Joining Koivu in having spectacular and above average seasons are Cal Clutterbuck, who has a league-leading four shorthanded goals, Kyle Brodziak, who has 20 points in 40 games, and Frodo, who gave the one ring to his fiancé this summer. Much like the rest of the Wild, these facts are said to be unsustainable

I have HOW MANY shorthanded goals?
Clutter 42 PIM in 36 games played. A clean hitter, he makes other teams rage. He also got hit with a low-balling "diving" call a few games ago, so expect him to come out of the gate firing on all cylinders.

AND THE MOST POSTS IN THE LEAGUE
Brodziak has been impressive this season, sporting one of the best Movember stasches in the league and posting 83 shots, good for 119th in the league.

My new wife would object to someone saying I'm shorter than Frodo.
Jared Spurgeon has been one of the Wild's most consistent defenders thus far this season and has 15 points in his last 38 games

I'll believe it when I see it there, Mr. Baggins
As the longest-tenured career Wild, Schultzie has two points and is -6 in 40 games this season.

I'mma Beast I'mma beast I'mma I'mma I'mma beast
Niklas Backstrom, who started off the season as one of the best goalies in the league statistically, has regressed to the mean, with a .923 Save percentage, 2.37 Goals Against Average, and is 12-10-4 in his 27 games this season.

Hey Backs, you suck lol

Watch it, Jerk
Matt Cullen, after starting one of his best seasons to date, has cooled off recently but scored on a Penalty Shot in his last game. Hopefully he regains his confidence, because as a second-line center, he is expected to be contributing more than his 23 points in 39 games played

Shut up, idiot!

Moron!
Marek Zidlicky, still hot off of coming off of the Injury Reserve, has nine(count em, Nine!) points in his 27 games, including his uncustomary three-point night a few games ago.

Scab eater!
Keith Ballard, holding down Vancouver's back end, has six points, 41 penalty minutes, and is a -1 in his 35 games so far this season.

Butt sniffer!
Claimed off of waivers by the up-and-coming GOAT Chuck Fletcher earlier this season, Nick Johnson has an impressive 14 points in his 36 games played.

Pus licker!
Alex Burrows has four points in his last five games, including one game winning goal.

Fart smeller!
Darroll Powe has six points in 40 games this season, bouncing around from line to line playing as both a wing and center

You eat dog crap for breakfast, geek!
Joining Ballard on the Vanny blue line is Kevin Bieksa, who has six points in his last five games.

You mix your Wheaties with your mama's toe jam!
The man now only known as the serial killer that rampaged through Ohio, The Butcher has three goals in his last five games

You bob for apples in the toilet! And you like it!

You play puck like a giiirrrrrrrrrl!

What did you say?

You heard me!

Tomorrow. Noon. On our ice. Be there, buffalo-butt breath.

U mad we playin' tonight instead?

Doesn't matter, cuz our boy Lou will watch out backs. Right Lou?

Well, uh, I can...try, I guess?

DON'T FORGET THE ****ING ALL STAR

Heatley has 27 points in 40 games but has three goals and two assists in the last five games

*Whimpers*

****

(in case that entire exchange went over your head, go to about :25)

Starting Lineups

Vancouver Canucks

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Raymond-Kesler-Higgins
Ebbett-Hodgson-Hansen
Malhotra-Lapierre-Weise

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Salo
Alberts-Ballard

Luongo

Minnesota Wild

Healtey - Koivu - Setoguchi
Wellman - Cullen - Bouchard
Clutterbuck - Brodziak - Johnson
Gillies/Peters - Powe - Staubitz

Defense will involve six of the following:

Schultz
Zidlicky
Zanon
Scandella
Spurgeon
Falk
Prosser
Lundin
Stoner

Your guess is as good as mine as to who plays. Either Harding or Backstrom should be in net. Surprising, huh?

LET'S GO WILD!

sweet mother of god.

I imagine that's the sort of thing that flashes through the mind of someone rocking violently infront of a barred window while a surly giant in a white uniform hands them a cup of pills.

Speaking of insanity: we have to win sometime.

On one hand, I'm a little pissed you jinxed us with a GDT before midnight CST. On the other, that is a kick ass series of posts.

Yes he did.

That means Seto/Wellman will most likely come back in the lineup.

A+ Gamethread. When I saw you post that it was going to be a 2 pager I was looking forward to reading it.

If those are the lines, I think that means the "they're injured" crutch is officially thrown away. That's as close to a full squad as we're gonna see IMO. I want a 2-fer fight. Stuaby and Kassian VS the Sedins.

Edit... Kassian is gone... boooooooooooooooo

Now if those lines can remain intact for longer than 3-5 days. That'd be the real miracle.

Awesome GDT Still missing Latendresse but finally our roster doesn't seem like Minnesota Aeros
As long as Lou is in the goal everything is possible.

Maybe I should bet my vCash on the Wild? Haven't lost once when betting on them or I'm just betting against the easy teams like Eddy

Looking at the standings, tonight's game really is important to win it especially that the Canucks have 51 points and the Wild 48.

The Wild can't let the Nucks walking away.

I was really hoping the stat line for Burrows would read "and hasn't bitten another player yet this season."
