Ya, we'll need the shot blocking.

Quote from Julien.....

Quote:
“I think they have quite a reputation of being a hard team to play against,” Julien said. “Every night it’s the same challenge of battling through their defensive system and also they’re a team that has good size. They’re a heavy team and up front and on the back end they have really good size. They’re strong on the puck and you look at their game and how they win battles along the boards and how they protect the puck and how they strip guys of the puck because the heavy game that they play, so I think we have to be ready and aware of that.”
I like that teams consider the devils to have good size up front and not be a bunch of babyback *****es to play against (lindy ruff said something very similar last week). i have also been very pleased with the board play of the devils just as he points out. but that bolded part really made me laugh....what defensive system? the free for all d-zone coverage?

Ironic that thinly veiled trap accusations are coming from a team that plays Julienball.

I do like having the reputation of being hard to play against though.

He's not saying we trap. He's just complimenting the team.

His shot blocking, his physicality against the boards down low where the Bruins big forwards do their work.

Yes he is. What else does "battling through their tough defensive system" mean? It is widely understood that that phrase is a euphemism for "they trap like crazy", especially when referring to the Devils.

Good news; the Bruins only score 19% of their goals on the glove high. Most of their goals come from the 5-hole (23%) and high blocker (21%).

We might have a chance.

I'm not sure much of a factor can be made of a 4% difference?

Every team has a defensive system they utilize. Julien watches the games to scout ahead of time. I'm sure he knows what type of game we play.

I'd like to see Clarkson take up this challenge.

True, but then you have to wonder why opposing players getting interviewed still mention the trap or one the various euphemisms.

4% is the difference between 6th and 9th place last year. It can mean everything.

There's is nothing defensive about what we're playing right now. haha Some of these guys can't possibly watch the games...

The team is an utter disaster in their own zone. It's slop. It's poor positioning and a lot of running. Julien's simply wrong..

Well, I think Julien is talking about the transition defence, which is actually pretty decent, because we forecheck well.

But ya, in our own zone, we're always running.

We still keep shots on net down pretty well, regardless of our defensive zone "slop."

It's the only reason we're in the top 8 with thelevel of goaltending received thus far.
