Why is even Purcell on the team? Not good enough for 3 first line and too soft for checkingline.
Must not watch much of Purcell or the Bolts. True, he's too soft for a checking line. He's plenty good enough for one of the other 3 lines. Teddy is streaky, but when he's confident he's a very good play making winger and if we could ever get him to shoot the puck more, people may pay attention to his release and notice it's right up there near the tops in the league.

I agree, but he's a PP specialist, maybe to setup Tavares like he's setting up Stamkos in TB?

I'd say RNH has the first PP unit covered. I'm more concerned about PK.

I know, I drank whiskey.

That's the best part of it

I'm getting my game face on.

The post after that is even worse.

You know i'm getting serious when my posts make no sense.

I hope Spezza joins instead of Seguin. I really don't want to have to cheer for that guy.

I see all these proposed line-ups and a lot of them overlook one fact.

In a short tournament, why not keep some of the natural pairs together? I.E. Perry/Getlaf, RNH/Eberle.

They're playing two exhibition games in Switzerland on April 29 and May 1. So after that.

If Seguin and Spezza are out, who replaces them?

I'm surprised Couture and Staal weren't asked.

Forwards
Left / Center/ Right
1: Benn/Taveres(A)/Eberle (very skilled)
2: Sharp/Getzlaf(C)/Perry (veteran skill)
3: Kane/Nugent-Hopkins/Skinner (speedy and skilled)
4: O'Reilly/Ladd/Purcell (veteran shut down role)
Any of these top 3 lines can step up to be the first line, but I think the Taveres line looks really nice on paper.
Not sure if this makes any difference but Tavares played with Skinner last year, wonder if they will keep them together since they seemed to have good chemistry

Good to see Vlasic join the team. The D is starting to take a much better shape than it did a week ago. This is probably one of the deepest teams we've had since we last won in 2007

I think as we saw in the 2010 olympics, it's important to keep guys who are used to playing together paired up at the international level to help get the team chemistry forming quicker. Another thing to consider is that RNH has showed his greatest success on the powerplay and on home ice when his team can get him favorable matchups. I think he needs to play sheltered ES minutes here too. As a result, the way I'd roll the forward lines:

Benn – Tavares – Skinner
Three elite talents with complimentary skillsets. Could be a dominant line.

Sharp – Getzlaf – Perry
Gotta keep getzlaf and perry together. Sharp adds another veteran player on this line who's going to be a difference maker at both ends of the ice.

Ladd – O’reilly – Kane
Ladd and Kane are familiar with one another, and RoR is an elite defensive player. This line can shutdown other country's top lines, make a huge physical impact, and contribute offensively.

x – RNH - Eberle
Depending who the last addition is. These guys can play sheltered even strength minutes and RNH can run one of the power play units. Keep these guys away from the tough minutes and watch them rack up points and break games open.

On D I'd probably go:

Keith - Vlasic
Elite PMD and elite shutdown dman, can work similar to Keith-Seabrook. I was going to put Subban with Keith, but Keith's best year came with Campbell on the second pairing providing support on the transition game side of thing. Subban with his puck skills can play a similar role this year. Keith will quarterback the first PP.

Bouwmeester - Subban
Bouw can sit back and defend while PK moves the puck. Subban can man the point with Keith on the first PP.

Phaneuf - Methot

Seeing a bit of Methot in columbus, I feel marginally safer with him out there than Luke Schenn. Hopefully this pairing can be well sheltered. Phaneuf can provide his big shot on the second PP unit.

Working out the PP units in terms of forwards will be a challenge with so many talented options.

First PK unit can be something like
Sharp - O'reilly
Keith - Vlasic

Anyone who doesn't have Sharp-Getzlaf-Perry as their 1st line needs to wake up and smell the roses.

I like Sharp playing with players other than Getzlaf and Perry. Those guys are least in need of playing with a forward with experience. I hope they give him a shot playing on whatever line Tavares is on.

I think Kane would be a great fir with Getzlaf and Perry. His speed would be a great addition to the line, and they play much better with someone who can bang around down low, which Kane can handle better than Sharp.
