Ladd - O'Reilly - Burrows

Thats a great checking-line.
That's a fantastic shut-down line.

2 years ago our team included 18 year old Evander Kane, 19 year old yet-to-play-in-the-NHL Jordan Eberle, 5th-in-the-league in faceoffs Steve Ott, Rich Peverley, Brooks Laich, and Steve Downie. The team was led offensively by 50 year old Ray Whitney, and two guys who the year prior had yet to be drafted: Duchene and Tavares.

Dont get upset with Purcell and Burrows, because they are 10x what he have had in the past

IIHF refs might not hate Burrows as much either.

OT, but anyone else have issues with the way username espo quotes?

Burrows is an excellent choice. I know many people hate the guy, but he is one of the best two-way wingers in the NHL.

As an Oiler fan who hates everything Canucks...

Burrows is a fine choice and I'm looking forward to seeing him without any negative bias.

No kidding. I hate him enough its almost enough to cancel the PVR recording I set. Hopefully he doesnt infect the rest of the team with his antics.

Edit: Just read page 31 and Spezza wanted to go but they choose Burrows instead...Lowe must be the GM

I believe the statement in question was "one of the best 2-way wingers". Which he certainly is. Obviously not THE best, but certainly in the discussion of the top-10 or top-20.

As someone who hates the Canucks I can say he really is one of the best two way wingers in the game, anyone arguing otherwise doesn't know what he's talking about or his hatred for the Canucks is clouding his judgement.

Spezza has been pretty loyal to TC in the past, i know they were pretty full down the middle but I guess it is still a little bit surprising

Burrows isn't coming to be top line goal scorer. He's coming to be a 4th line PKer, which he is actually suited quite well for.

There's no point in having a PPG forward on your 4th line. You might as well have someone there who is suited to the role and can provide something other than offense.

Considering that in the entire league, there are 240 starting wingers, yeah, top 10-20 is "one of the best". I don't see anyone implying or stating top-5.

i still think Seguin and Spezza are MUCH better players in general.

If you want a 4th line checker then move someone else down Getzlaf. I rather them take the best players they can especially since scoring against the russians last time was pathetic

it is 1 game elimination. You arent going to tire out opponents with your checking

Love the ignorance of posters who don't know ****. Is Burrows a pain in the ass and hated? Sure. But he's still a very good player who does well even when NOT playing with the Sedins and is just as good defensively. His finishing is also incredibly underrated. Contrary to the myth, there have been plenty of players who played with the Sedins and haven't succeeded. Burrows is pretty accurate and quick with his release. Now, I'm not saying Burrows is some great player but he gets so underrated because of the stupid things he has done (which I'm not a fan of either).

Hope he does great and serves up some crow for the haters.

Burrows plays with the Sedins... without the Sedin's he's lucky to hit 40 points.

His linemates with Team Canada won't exactly be chopped liver. He'll be fine. I honestly prefer Burrows over Spezza, who just never seems to elevate his play -- or shoot the friggin' puck -- when needed.

Spezza seems to do fine when called for the world championships

he was the only one to show up against the russians last time

Burrows added? Sweet. Perfect addition to team Canada. Great at PK, excellent two-way player, quick, and an agitator.
