This is a better team than we shutout a couple of weeks ago. Koivu is back up to speed. Seto is back. We need to bring it to them consistently tonight. Minney might not win the division, but this is a well coached team that can defend and score.

Feel we're due for a bit of a slide here; probably right through the Bruins game, which will wake this team up. I think we will continue to struggle to score. Haven't liked our game at all the last two outings.

Hopefully the team isn't looking past this game like fans are. We're what 100+ posts into the Boston non-GDT discussing a game still a few days away, and just starting discussion on the game tonight.

The team will say they're not looking ahead of course, but it will be hard not to look past a game against the Wild when you have the Bruins coming up.

While it's human nature to look past a game like this, it's also up to AV to remind the players (if they actually need reminding) that in the grand scheme of things tonight's game is far more important than the one versus Boston.

The Boston thread reflects the focus of some of the fans; let's hope that tonight's game reflects the proper focus of the players.

Hopefully 2 nights of rest in their own beds will be able to revitalize some sleepy Canucks.

4-2 Wild.

I have a feeling the players will be looking past the Wild to the B's game Saturday.

What do you bet the media asking questions to te team about the Boston game will be the same media to crucify the team about looking ahead if they lose this??

Bad feeling.

2nd game back at home
media shoving Boston on Saturday down players throats
Minnesota Wild (even if at home)

I hope I'm wrong.

The Canucks have played the Wild well at home and are coming off a couple of frustrating losses. I think they will bounce back and set a good tone before hitting the road.

Getting the feeling we are going to lose. No particular reason, just that we won't play well and lose.

It's how the media operates.

Lu is getting the start today. Originally thought it was odd, but given the Bruins game is a 1pm EST start, it basically means that Schneider is starting that game. After the groin pull against the Pens for the matinee game, Lu never plays afternoon games.

But, I find AV's handling of the goalie situation puzzling lately.

Being a fan of this team since I was born, it's like the guy in the old joke, wherein he's watching a movie in which a bunch of women are about to gear down for a skinny dip, but just before they do a train comes and blocks them out until they're safely in the water. When an usher comes along and asks the guy why he's watched the movie three nights an a row he replies, "One of these days that damned train's gonna be late."

Career Game # 700 for Luongo tonight. Here's hoping he gets the W to mark the occasion.

I have a feeling the fans will.

The players that get paid millions of dollars to live hockey as their live and have pretty much been preached and practiced "one game at a time" since their dawn of their professional careers? Not so much.

Also note: If the Canucks DO play bad, I don't think it would be fair to automatically claim they "looked past the Wild". Maybe they would have, maybe they wouldn't have.

This would be incorrect. Lou has played afternoon games since then. I would also think that Lou is going to get the start tonight, and if he plays well, will also get the start on Saturday with 2 full days of rest. I think we'll see Schneider play against Tampa Bay next week on the back to back.

I think if we squeezed out a win against San Jose, they would overlook this game and lose accordingly.

But I think at this point getting over a mini 2-game slide is of more importance than a grudge match against Boston.

I feel like the 2nd line is going to have a crazy good game. Just a feeling.

Anywho, winning in regulation would be nice. It would give us a 5 point lead in the division, while a regulation loss would mean a 1 point lead over the Wild.

Hard to imagine the Canucks going three straight games without a win.
