Not necessarily that at all.

Obviously feels he's not getting the proper exposure or results where he is currently. He's comfortable in North America and will get much more attention here.

I was shocked he actually decided to go to Sweden in the first place.

Can't wait to see him live two more times this year, maybe more.

In the WHL thread, with no replys.

People view the prospects thread much more often, but if you feel the need to delete this thread, delete it.

No in this section.

Go back a page in the prospects section.

I'm not a mod, can't do that. Just pointing it out.

He didn't impress in Sweden, he started out in SEL got demoted to the junior team and didn't really tear it up in Superelit either. His game is probaby more suited for the small rinks and NA-hockey.

Wasn't he drafted by the Edmonton Oil Kings (as was Philip Samuelsson)? The only reason he went to Modo was because his father was the coach and his draft stock dropped insanely fast. He's going to come back to NA to try to reestablish himself as a top prospect.

He's got 5 points in 5 games now, definitely a good start to his WHL career. I had the opportunity to chat with him earlier last week.

Quote:
Struggling to earn ice time under father Ulf with Modo of the Swedish Elite League, both father and son decided it was best to have the 17-year-old forward in a higher-profile role with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League in early January.

It was a decision both he and Ulf gave considerable contemplation to in the month leading up to Samuelsson’s departure from Sweden.

“I started to think about it more and more,” Samuelsson said. “Me and my dad, around the end of December, we started getting the ball rolling.”

this is good news for him...he could be a bit of a late riser in the draft...honestly haven't heard much about him this season up to this point

Having seen him once, 2nd round is not an unrealistic expectation, big and skilled. Good looking prospect.

Good to see him do well in the WHL. He was lackluster to say the least in the SEL. Just like it's a transition for swedish prospects playing on smaller rinks it was the same for Henrik but the other way around ;P

isn't his skating one of his weaknesses? that probably doesn't help.

Yeah, he is an average skater, not very explosive, but strong on his skates

On the other hand IF he is "only" a 2nd rounder type YET IF he tears up the WHL the rest of the way-what does this say about the level of the WHL this year?

So--IF he tears it up the rest of the way ---EITHER he becomes a big late "riser" now as a first round plum NOBODY had expected that high --OR if he stays only as a 2nd rounder after doing that it says that the WHL this year is not that good a league..there could be no other logical conclusions..So we shal see IF he does or does not tear it up the rest of the season..

He is going to be a late 1st rounder. He is really good. As good a young power forward I have seen in awhile

This is assuming there was a pure consensus on his status as a prospect before moving to the WHL, which of course is impossible

Samuelsson has been very good. Ive seen every home game he has played. Very physical, and pretty good skills to boot. The dub has three of the best teams in the country right now. The league is fine, Samuelsson is worthy of a late first, or early to mid second round pick. If he lasts long than that then some team is going to find a real bargain.

Here's one: Being a good junior player doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a good pro.

Example: Dylan Wruck was over a point per game last year and wasn't drafted in any round.

And here are a couple more possible conlcusions:
-he's playing on a high scoring team and will get a fair amount of incidental points
-even if he "tears it up" the sample size will be fairly small, scouts may be wary of judging him on it
