Mid Season MVP

The calendar has turned, and we approaching the half way mark. The habs have had alot of problems and turmoil this year, but I'm stil interested in gauging who you believe has been the habs best player thus far. Use any criteria that you feel fit.

I think Erik Cole has been the MVP. His work ethic from game to game has been remarkably consistent and top notch. You will have trouble thinking of many games where it seemed like Cole was not playing.

He leads the team with 16 goals. The next closest guy only has 11. He's one point off the team scoring lead, 1st in PP goals, and 2nd in GWG.

I know it doesnt mean much... its like when Jeff Hackett was named MVP for 2 years in a row and the habs missed the playoffs, but I find it interesting nonetheless.

Lars Eller.

Edit: Obviously trolling, our MVP has been Cole by far.

Cole by a longshot. After all the crap he received at the beginning, he has become our best player by a longshot. Even after Martin **** on him about the PP. So glad Martin is gone...Cole has turned on the engines and doesn't seem to be turning them off anytime soon.

Matin..if you did YOUR HOMEWORK...maybe you'd still have a job! Good riddence!

I chose Josh Gorges without a doubt.

He's the best defenseman this season with the Habs. He has +8, always as effective/reliable, always there to defend his teammates.

JOSH FOR MVP.

1) Cole
2) Gorges
3) Price

In that order for me.

An unpopular choice likely, but I say CP. People talk too much about game winners. His contribution have been game savers.

I would agree that Cole is tops on forwards and Gorges on D. Special mention to Eller and Moen.

I went with Cole as its the more 'sexy' choice, but I'm sure the team would be last in the league without Price.

Price would probably be my #2. I'm sure its not easy playing behind that inexperienced D, but he has been a bit leaky this year. But I'm not going to say that the habs wouldn't be further down if budaj was the starter, so I see where you are coming from. Goaltending is the most influential position in hockey.

It's hard to vote for anyone other than Erik Cole this year.

Why is Subban an option? I think his performance so far was 3rd or 4th best among defenseman...
To answer the question, Eric Cole by far, Gorges was steady too.

Why isn't Desharnais in the poll?

Pretty sure any team would be last without a goalie.

1. Gorges
2. Cole
3. Price

HM to DD, Eller, and Moen.

I'll go off the grid and say Plekanecs. He has struggled putting up points of late, but his leading presence on one of the best PK units in the NHL is important, so is his 30 points or so, and him constantly being matched against the opposing teams top lines.

1. Pleks gets no love, I'm not surprised, his job of preventing goals isn't as flashy as scoring them.

2. Cole, a close 2nd, scores some good goals, but mostly against weaker competition on the line with Desharnais, not a knock on Cole. I jsut value PLeks work more than others.

3. Subban, been a monster on the back end, despite a few glaringly costly mistakes, when he isn't making those mistakes he is by far the best habs dman, way ahead of Gorges imo.

Tough choice between Cole & Gorges, but I chose Cole.

No one else is even close imho.
