Dallas Best Players by 2015

Kinda stealing it from the Colorado section, but i thought it would be interesting to do. Basically just predict our 5 best players by 2015

Here's mine

- Benn
- Campbell
- Oleksiak
- Loui
- Nemeth/Goligoski

HM : Fraser, Larsen and someone we signed via FA

Benn, Oleksiak, Goligoski, Larsen, Loui are the guys I see as the likely core at that time. Rielly Smith and Chiasson may have established themselves in that group by then as well.

Does this mean the second half of the 14-15 season or the first half of the 15-16 season?

Hope: Campbell, as that would mean he turned into the goalie we hoped he'd be.

Expect: Benn or Eriksson, both entering their prime years (goalscoring and points, respectively).

1. Jamie Benn
2. Loui Eriksson
3. Future signing/draft pick
4. Jamie Oleksiak
5. John Klingberg

HM another new player or Larsen

Personally I dont think Chiasson or any of our other NCAA prospects ever make the NHL in earnest

What makes you think that? Chiasson and the Smiths have been pretty good in their NCAA careers and I think they all have a legitimate shot at making it.

OK. Well... that's 3 and a half years away. I really have no idea other than to say Benn & Loui. 3 and a half years ago Benn hadn't even had his dominant season in juniors yet. I don't particularly believe in any of our high-profile prospects either which makes it even harder.

Doesn't seem like their games are all that impressive. Not particularly fond of college prospects either. Dallas has never had any success with them lately.

Craig Smith, Derek Stepan, etc are very successful 4 year college players. I think they'll have an impact.

NCAA players seem to be making more of an impact on their NHL clubs then they have in the past. It's reasonable to think a guy like Reilly Smith or Chaisson, with his size, will be contributors in the NHL some day.

Contributors maybe but first line talents I highly doubt it. I'd still put money on them not becoming regular NHLers. Maybe Chiasson as a energy player.

Klingberg is having a terrible season. I don't see him ever reaching NHL. Nemeth is a completely another story though.

I do, but in the very distant future. Possible reasons for his failed season so far have been discussed many times in the prospects thread. I do not want to see him play for Jokerit anymore but I honestly believe he'll improve a lot while maturing. I don't think he'll even be in Dallas by 2015, not to even speak about being one the best players.

Benn, Eriksson and a UFA/Trade pickup are safe bets. I really like Daley's progress and think he'll be one of the better Dmen in 2015. Hard to predict the performance of our prospects. I'd say Nemeth as of now. But I'd mention Fistric & Goligoski before him, if they resign.

Chaisson will be a second line player for us.
Reilly Smith will play in the AHL for a year and then get a long look his next season.
Austin Smith will be an AHLer/4th liner with this club. I can't see him getting much more than that.
Alex Guptil will be a surprise I think and he'll make the NHL club as a 3rd liner in his career.

These are just my predictions.
