All I ask for is for someone to put Parise on his ass. If they want to be a Flyer, there's no better way to start then by laying out a Devil.

Now it says they lost 3-2 with Pitkanen scoring a shorthanded goal. I also saw the same score you posted, just a few minutes ago.

Also, does anyone know why Seidenberg wasn't dressed? Was it just because it's a preseason game or is there another reason?

Only the Devils could name their farm team the "rats".

It was a fairly uneventful game until the 3rd. Mid-way through the period Josh Gratton welcomed himself into the hearts of Phantom and Flyer fans by bumping Ahonen and then destroying Teemu Kesa in a fight. On the ensuing faceoff Cam Janssen quickly disposed of Jeff Smith and the Rats came alive taking the lead shortly thereafter. The Phantoms survived a couple of two-man disadvantages (including at the start of OT) and Pitkanen finally tied it late in the 3rd. In the shootout Suglabov (who went 2nd) was the only scorer. None of the Phantoms came close.

There was one major brou-ha-ha in the 3rd when Smith cross-checked Parise in the face but Smith wound up on the short end when two Rats held him down leaving David Hale free to cave in his face (3 Phantoms had headed to the bench). Also Gratton late made it two-for-two when he pummeled the much taller Alex Alexeyev, nearly KOing him at one point.

-Patrick Sharp looked just that...sharp. He was the best player on the ice.

-I thought Pitkanen looked terrible. He still avoids contact too often for a guy his size.

-Nittymaki was very good, especially when you consider how often the Phantoms played shorthanded.

-They went with a young defense. Printz, Ruggieri, Wood, Pitkanen, Hope, Skolney.

yeah, they just didn't dress him along with Meyer, Jones, Ready, Meloche, Slaney, White and Kane.

BTW, how did Umberger look tonight? I know he was in the shoot out but came up empty.

Let's just say it wasn't a banner night offensively for any of the Phantoms. He played on a line with Eager (and I think the Robinson kid) but the line didn't do much.

what is the difference in crowds in philly for phantom games and other cities, with the AHL being the big ticket in town now.(for hockey).

Well, since this has not been answered, I will put out some info. The Phantoms have not really had a home game as yet, as this is written. The first exhibition was at a Flyers Skate Zone, a local rink, which had a capacity of around 700. It was a sell-out.

And then some! I got there 45 minutes early and you couldn't get near the glass.
