Vanek/Myers for Getzlaf?

Building off of Zip's post in the trade thread, I'd have to believe the asking price for Getzlaf (or a similarly valuable 1C) would include either Vanek or Myers. What say ye?

Neither for me. Those are two of my un-moveables.

I'd throw Pominville in the mix, though.

I would potentially consider Myers IF and ONLY IF there was a contract in place for Getzlaf beyond this campaign.

I'd rather not send Myers for him. I'd do Vanek, but it kind of defeats the purpose since the idea is to get a center capable of playing with him. I'd give them Vanek if they take Ruff as part of the deal.

Not giving Myers away.

Vanek sure, but we need to add talent to the talent that at least gives a **** and not add Getzlaf to the Staffords and Roys.

How about Roy, Stafford and Guastad for Getzlaf?

So many other options to trade like Boyes,Roy,Stafford, maybe even Ennis though I like him, Sekera, Gragnani, and draft picks. Maybe Miller? I don't know but not our best forward nor our potential best defenseman

Don't think I could do either.

The whole idea would be to pair Vanek with Getz. Myers might be more palatable given our prospect depth, but I don't think I could......

Can we just give them Roy and stafford? Don't care about getting anything back

Not for those two...move would be lateral, at best.

I agree 100% - and I'd add McNabb for now as the only other guy I wouldn't consider dealing.

Unless I know the Sabres could land a proven elite goalie replacement, I wouldn't trade Miller yet. Enroth isn't ready to be a starter and I don't agree with the theory that teams only need an average goalie to win a championship.

If I am Anaheim I take Myers, he is young and signed to a good contract. Vanek for Getlaf does nothing for them, probably helps a bit more because of our organizational depth at wing.

If I am Murray, I package a second or maybe a young center prospect like William Karlsson with Getzlaf and I start with Stafford and Hecht (gotta take some money back from Buffalo), and demand two of McNabb and Kassian, Foligno, Adam and hoping to come away with Adam and Brennan.

Getzlaf's salary will restrict trade opportunities and I think the logical teams to make a move are Toronto, Detroit, Buffalo and Philly as my dark horse favorite as they have a lot of young high-end NHL talent on hand in Van Riemsdyk, Schenn and Couturier and cap room due to Pronger.

Very tentatively moveable.

VANEK for GETZLAF is a lateral move at best.

MYERS for GETZLAF is just silly. Franchise Defenseman are far and few between.

Id move Myers for him, not Vanek and im not voting only because it doesnt specify the package around Myers...theyd be getting Myers and not much else from me lol. I'd do something like Myers,Stafford,2nd for getzy but you can take 1sts, and high end prospects off the table and I only included stafford to even salaries lol

When I opened the thread I thought this would be a poll for Myers+Vanek for Getzlaf, since it would take both to get him. Regarding Getzlaf's contract ends in 2013 I would definitely hesitate to make this move.

It wouldn't take both to get him. Especially when, like you said, you factor in Getzlaf's contract situation and the fact that Vanek isn't really what they need. If I'm Anaheim then I want something to help fix our lack of depth, help their horrid defense and get some draft picks in a draft deep with good defensemen. Trading star player for star player doesn't always work best for a team, despite what people around here want to think. A Roy/stafford/ennis+prospects+ picks type deal might get laughed at on hfboards, but realistically is a kind of trade they need.

id do Vanek for Getzlaf... no question. I'm not adding anything of too much value to the deal to get it done though. Vanek's been very good this year. but he is what he is. Getzlaf should be almost no drop off in production, but he comes along with physical play, size, and he plays center... it's a no brainer. and it creates cap space for other moves. im a fan of Vanek and the way he's stepped up in the last 12 months, but there is a lot I don't like about his passive game, his lack of conditioning, his below average skating, he's lackadaisical play in the d zone...

Myers... no

I'd trade myers before Vanek.

Moot point though, Regier doesn't make big/good trades

Lateral isn't that bad though in this case. We'd be moving talent at wing (a position of strength) to talent at center (a position of weakness). Player-for-player they may be even, but the overall impact to the team may be different. I agree you don' trade Myers, but here's the question: which lineup is better (change lines as desired)?

Ennis-Getzlaf-Pominville
Leino-Roy-Stafford
Gerbe-Gaustad-Boyes
Hecht-Adam-Kaleta
McCormick, Kassian, Ellis

Vanek-Hecht-Pominville
Leino-Roy-Stafford
Ennis-Adam-Boyes
Gerbe-Gaustad-Kaleta
McCormick, Kassian, Ellis

(note these lineups presume full health)

I feel like the first lineup might be just a little bit stronger as a whole. In either lineup Kassian can be slotted in over someone if desired, I left him out because based on Ruff scratching him that one game I feel like he may be Rochester bound, for better or worse, when we are all healthy. But that's a discussion for another thread (so not to derail this one).
