Eh I didn't read anything new in the article. Same stuff that has been posted in the OCR except for maybe the quote from the coach/Sutton which wasn't anything too special. We all know Ryan is the one most likely to get moved if any of the big three are going anywhere.
They're still jelly even when the Ducks are a doormat. I love it.
Technically it's their usual stickied proposal/etc thread but since all the reports on the Ducks speculation of course they will have that in the title for now.
Sharks won't have space for him...if we will offer 4 mln it can works...
4 million? That's too much IMO. If we can get rid of Lydman then 3 million max is what I would offer for Stuart. Hopefully we could have him for less since he's really just a upgrade over Brookbank and Lydman.
But the way Hiller has been playing it is clear he is not the same goalie and his salary is too high for his lack of consistent production. Also he whines to the media.........
TBH I am a little worried with Hiller as our goalie for the forseable future......
Ryan Miller's wife is Hollywood actress, Noureen DeWulf. What do you guys think about Hiller + <> Miller + ?
I don't think either team would need to add, maybe Sabres throw in a late pick or something since we are taking on more salary I guess? Similar career records, similar current season as well.
But I agree with something above how his salary is too high. Much rather take the risk and hope Hiller returns to form with his 4.5m salary, then take on Miller and take the risk when he's owned 6.25m

Miller is @ 0.901 this season, not much better then Hiller's current record and is almost 2m more.

Of course first step to sign new shutdown d-man is trading Lydman...IMO you underestimate Stuart...he has 3.75 mln this year, so someone, who wants sign him should propose 4 mln to convince him to leave Detroit...it's fair value and I will do it for sure...this guy is proven winner, 4+ seasons in one of the best organization in this buisness...
If the rumours are true he wants to leave Detroit to come back to California you won't need to overpay to get him back. But it looks like Sharks will have first dips on him anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I hope we get him if we get rid of Lydman. Next year's defence could be something like:

Yes, this is my refresh defence too...maybe Visnovsky - Stuart and Sbisa - Schultz, but Visnovsky - Sbisa and Stuart - Schultz is possible too...and solid 7th guy like Lepisto or even Brookbank
If Stuart wants back to Cali it's perfect situation for us, give him 3.8 mln or something to beat Sharks and Kings and this guy can really help us...
Would be perfect to offer Lydman + package for second line center (Roy, Brassard, other idea?)

Lydman won't bring us a 2nd line center after this season's crappy play. He can't be the center piece. I'm honestly hoping for that we sign Olli Jokinen during offseason, he could center the 2nd line for few years.

You know what Jokinen is one of the best FA possibility, we will see...but Lydman + good young player (not our top prospects) can be enough to bring struggling second line center...I know that Sabres fans want bring back Lydman...

Lydman+ mediocre prospect won't bring us Roy or Brassard.
It's too much IMO...but we must wait for draft, if we will chose scoring RW Palmieri can be traded, if we will chose center Holland can be traded...but we can also wait for FA market and try to sign guy like Jokinen...
Lines next season:
FA-Getz-Perry
Cogliano-Roy-Ryan
Etem-Koivu-DSP
Beleskey-Pelley-Parros
Beauchemin-Fowler
Lubo-Sbisa
FA-Schultz
Brookbank
Don't forget the Ducks are on pace to get a top 3 draft pick. Yaku, Grigo or Galch. Silver lining to sucking!!! Just because Shultz is a stud in NCAA doesn't mean you rush him to NHL. Rushing prospects is never a good idea. Even DSP has had marginal success in his first year. Add the kids to a group of vets. This year too many kids on bottom 6
I know that Brassard is risky choice, but I believe he can be available for very friendly price, so we should wait and see what will happen...IMO next draft is key, after ceremony we will know which prospects can we trade...

Obviously that's too much for Brassard, but not for Roy IMO. Roy would solidify the 2nd line center spot for years. We will be lucky if one of Holland or Palmeiri reach Roy's level. Personally I have my doubts about both. The point is that if addresses a big need with a great player at a great contract, then Murray should be all over it. Yes its a steep price, but the 2nd line center spot has been a need since McDonald left. Having 2 great pairs in Getz-Perry and Roy-Ryan line could do wonders for our team.
I've said it before and I will say it again. Slotting a rookie into the lineup right off the bat is tough, slotting one on a top line is even tougher, and slotting one on a top line with Getz and Perry is almost impossible. If Murray had the balls to bring Roy in for something aside from Ryan or Getz, our top pick would compete with Cogliano and Etem for the 2nd line wing spot.
4th line is really hard to predict with so many players going to FA. Gotta think Parros will be brought back, despite my disagreeing with it. I personally don't want Pelley back. Would rather have Macenauer. Pelley has been bad aside from his first game IMO.
