Final All-Star Fan Ballotting Results - Bizarre

This year is clear proof why the fan vote for the All-Star team should go the way of the Do-Do bird (or Colton Orr as the case may be).

Milan Michalek
Jason Spezza
Daniel Alfreddsson
Erik Karlsson
Dion Phaneuf
Tim Thomas
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...te-Allstar2012

Thomas sure and maybe Karlsson for his offence but the other four???

Daniel finished #19 and Henrik #21 amongst forwards.
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=610008

Kessel and Lupul were #4 and #5.

Reimer was #2 amongst goalies????

Alex Edler was #15 among Dmen edged out by the durable Chris Pronger.

This is truly embarrassing.

Is it, though? The fans who stuffed the ballots have to watch the Leafs and the Sens for 82 games. Let them have this one.

I just can't muster up enough care to be upset. ASG has always been a joke and always will be, let the hometown fans have their fun.

I have no compunction with letting the fans have their fun either. I offer them my most enthusiastic contrafibularity.

The more rest the big boys get the better

The Sedins because they're freaks of nature will most likely go
and Hodgson in the young uns game

But if Kesler and Luongo stays home, the more rest they get, the better in the long run

Back in the Original Six days (yes I am that old) the All-Stars from the other 5 teams played the Stanley Cup champion. Lots of fun.

Hey! Maybe Rory Fitzpatrick wouldn't have been that funny after all! The dreaded Phaneuf-Fitzpatrick tandem.

"Give me five bees for a quarter!" you'd say.

We saw this with Canadiens fans in 2008, I don't know why it's newsworthy at this point.

Only really awful picks are Alfredsson and Michalek.

As long as Edler gets to go I am happy.

All stars? I'm not convinced this team would make the playoffs!

You realize the ASG is in Ottawa this year, right? So why is a bunch of Sens/Leafs getting a lot of votes in a fan ballot contest a surprise?

I don't know what's not to understand.

Dont care about the 'fan' voted players, because the fans of the host team stuff the box as they should IMO. This is an exhibition game, not a competitive one. Celebrate the game.

I really hope Edler gets selected for the game.

He deserved a spot last year too.

I'm of the mind that the fewer Canucks going to the ASG, the better. It's a complete waste of time and the combination of travel and horrible luck with injuries that the team has means any and all rest that we can get is a good thing.

It's a silly event and the hilarious results to the fan voting just hammers that point home even more.

It's all just a big waste of time, let the scrubs play the ASG, I don't care honestly because I don't watch that meaningless, skewed game, especially when players like Phaneuf make it regardless of the Leafs fans. It's like us voting Ballard in.

Let the Canucks be with their families, stay at home, and rest up. We don't need them participating in something so meaningless and worthless.

ASG is kind of a joke, to be sure. I do enjoy the skills competition, however.

I think the Twins and Kesler are locks. Edler deserves to be there too, IMO (if this were truly about the league's best, and not a popularity contest).

Phaneuf must be the most underrated player on HF. I don't even like him but man, people are just outrageous in the bashing.

He's 6th in points for dmen. Even +/- on an awful team. Not exactly awful numbers, and reasonable for an all star game. Kessel should probably be the onyl guy a team as bad as the leafs get to send, but Phaneuf is hardly an atrocious choice.

Where is the *****ing about Alfredsson and Michalek going?

Solid top line, 2 dmen who can't play defense but at least should mesh pretty well and put up a ton of points (karlsson feeding phaneuf would be pretty awesome, until the other teams the puck) and the best goalie in the NHL.

I could care less if any Canucks make it or not, it is by no means an indicator or talent, but really - the rest issue isn't a big deal. Regardless, they get 6 days off - who cares if they have to play a game of shinny on the weekend? Is that really going to tire them out that much if they're off Tuesday, play a meaningless non-physical game Sunday, then come back the next Tuesday? Of course the players would much rather stay and spend time with their families, but really the "rest" or risk of injury issue isn't there.
