I think the Sabres should hold onto him. I haven't watched much Buffallo games this year, but they have a really good team.

What's been the problem this year? Injuries?

this reeks of the "wow this drink tastes terrible, try it?" umm mmmmm

if roy is traded it wont be for a legit #1 centre it will be to change the culture of the team, much like the richards and carter trades.

roy would get a top 6 forward capable of contributing somewhat now, a prospect and a 2nd or 3rd round pick
It also could be Roy, plus, plus for a center the Sabres may be targeting.

Would new jersey be interested in something around Roy for Parise? If Parise can't sign there it would be smart for nj

We've been injured but really we've just been bad. Really bad. Every coach has sucked and every forward has sucked outside of Vanek and Pominville. We have no secondary scoring and a bunch of people that aren't emotionally invested in each game.

New Jersey would laugh.

As a Sabres fan, I'm trading Roy for futures (unless he could get us Getzlaf ) and re-tooling this wannabe hockey club.

Looks like Hawks. McNeil +. Could see expanded deal.

Not sure Rangers have the EXTRA to give what you'd want.

No interest at all from New Jersey. We don't need/want Roy.

I think they wait till the off-season to move him, and they send him with a package to Anaheim for Getzlaf. Buffalo needs a legit guy like that, and Anaheim needs depth other than the Big 3 up front.

To Anaheim:
C- Derek Roy
G- Ryan Miller
C- Luke Adam
D- Mark Pysyk

To Buffalo:
C- Ryan Getzlaf
G-Jonas Hiller

Buffalo will then have a legit number one. While Anaheim downgrades at center, they get two top-6 forwards in Ennis and Adam, which gives them much greater scoring depth then they've had in the past.

Buffalo loses center depth, but I could see them re-signing Hecht along with other possibilities being Nielsen, Stoll and Grabovski. Also if they finish low enough we could see them pick Galchenyuk or Gaunce in the draft, giving them a blue-chip center prospect for the 1st time since...Well...Umm...Pierre Turgeon?

According to Eklund, Roy is involved in a blockbuster with Anaheim.

@dk- I don't see Ennis in your deal.

Maybe something with Pittsburgh please haha? The Pens are screwed right now. Actually, the Pens probably don't have the available pieces to make a trade due to injuries.

Are Malkin or Staal injured ? If not - even if Crosby is gone for a while - they 're fine at center.

Derek Roy to St. Louis, it makes sense too, they need a number one Centre, and Roy can fill the void quite well. I'd say for a 1st, Grachev and Sobatka

Roy, Stafford, and Miller all have terrible attitudes that have become a huge detriment to the team, someone needs to go.

What would Holland have to offer to get Roy in a Red Wing jersey?

Filppula + sound reasonable from an outsiders POV

Maybe Buffalo would be the one who would have to add a little something to make it work actually. It would be more of a "change of scenery" trade but Filppula is doing fine in Detroit

Good starting trade proposal.....Miller > Hiller....plus Miller has star power and name recognition .....Getzlaf > Roy and Pysyk....Roy helps fill the void left by Getzlaf....I would rather substitute Stafford for Adam in this deal because of our lack of depth at Center

Roy being a FA at same time as Getz and Perry ruins the idea of Roy as part of a package for Ryan IMO. Ryan's contract is what makes him more valuable.

I really wish the ducks could pick him up without loosing one of RPG.

What prospects or players would you be interested in?

The contract situation kinda sucks.

I meant to say Roy, Miller, Adam, Ennis to Anaheim. I would rather do Stafford instead of Adam as well, but as I stated above, we have options. Either drafting a guy near the top if we keep slipping like this (Galchenyuk), or signing a guy like Stoll, Nielsen or Grabovski to center the 2nd line. We could even re-sign Hecht there or try Leino again in that spot. We have ridiculous depth on the wings. I would like the deal to be something like Roy, Miller, Pysyk, Stafford for Getzlaf and Hiller, but Anaheim can't take on that much actual money. That'd be an extra $4m-$5m going Anaheim's way. They'll want core pieces (Roy and Miller) an up and coming player (Ennis, maybe Stafford, but I doubt it) and a prospect (Adam, Kassian, McNabb, Armia, or Pysyk). I could see the prospect most likely either being Pysyk or Adam. Anaheim needs a 2c very badly, and haven't had one since they won the cup. I could see them going with Pysyk as well bc he's a mobile right-handed defense prospect who could develop into Fowler's partner on the top-pairing. But I think Roy, Miller, Ennis/Adam, and Pysyk/Adam/Kassian would be in the deal, if it ever happened.

As a Sabres fan I wouldn't mind at all. Then move Stafford in the off-season for a 2c, or for prospects if they sign a guy like Grabovski to take on that role for us.
