He didn't? 23 points in 29 games including 10 on the PP..
This team is great because of the system we play.. Prospal knows that system and can fit in well.
I know his speed is an issue, but hes still good enough..
29 games is the point. He was slow in the 29 games that he played starting at the end of the season, with a full season of rest on his body. By the time we get to 60,70,80,90 games in, Prospal's speed issues will become more apparent and will likely get worse. He was a non-factor in the playoffs last year. I think us expecting him to play like a 70 point player in the playoffs with a whole season on his body is a bit much.
Speed on the power play is almost completely irrelevant. Prospal would give us an instant 3 to 4 % boost in power play success.
He doesn't even need to play top 6 minutes. Shannahan him. Have him play 3rd line center and drop Boyle to 4th where he belongs. Prospal with Hagelin and Fednotenko gives him gritty and speedy linemates. He would rarely have to even backcheck.
I know I'm in the minority but I really hope that ship has sailed ( Prospal) . I think he could help the PP but like the poster above said " he rarely will have to back check " if thats the case I just assume have WW in a PP specialist role than bring in a good soldier and leader with dead legs . Some people don't agree but I still feel 30 points
Put up in losing efforts is a helluva lot different than making a difference in tightly contested games . I'd rather go to battle as is and hope some ayers step up then go back to Vaclav
One reservation I have about Vaclav is being able to defend in Torts system. If you saw coached corner last night and how he explained the emphasis on getting quickly to the spot on the right side o the puck between the circles or flash to the point if need be . I remember a play against Washington last playoffs where he was unable to get there in time and we had one in our net . For every bit of knowledge and craftiness he has on offense I think he will lose a lot of 50/50 pucks on the defensive end of the ice .Vinny is a helluva pro and leader and likable guy but I really hope we've seen the last of him . I also feel Torts will coach with his heart and give him to much ice . Even if this team is t quite ready for the big run it's about the core players and their growth .
so watching TSN it looks like Cammaleri would like a deal out of Montreal............he still has 2 yrs at 6 million so in any move they would have to shed some salary and it also means no FA next yr
most of me says pass but part of me says he could thrive in NY..........Wolski has to go back this yr but my concern is more the next few yrs.
Rangers dont really have any crap contracts left to peddle off as well

He would fit the Rangers nicely; as a finisher but Gainey isn't going to be loomking to do Slats any favors after the Gomez deal and his cap hit make it a no-go from the Rangers perspective in all likelihood.
Obviously if you could get him fro Wolski, Christensen package you would but I simply don't see that in the cards.
If we can afford Parise then sure. But Camm. only has 2 years left and Parise will likely want a longer contract.

I brought up earlier in this thread the Rangers' need for a shooter from the point to help the PP. Look like that's the kind of D they're considering.
P.S. A BIG NO to Camalleri. 2 years a 6 mill. per year left on that contract. He's aging with diminishing production. No one knows where next year's cap goes. It would eat up all of the savings gained from Wolski, reduction in Drury's cap hit.
I just don't understand the need for a Dman. Seems as though Sauer is going to be back before the deadline. So with that and Eminger back they have 7 Good Dmen.
I guess they could move one of Stralman or Eminger in a package and use a PP specialist Dman for the 6th spot?
McDonagh. Girardi
Del Zotto. Sauer
Staal. Souray
Bickel/Stralman/Eminger/Woywitka
Power Play:
Stepan. Dubinsky. Gaborik
Richards. Souray
Just throwing that idea out there. Not sure if Souray still has a bad attitude or if he's even available. But its a expiring contract UFA, he's having a decent year, he's shooting a lot 100+ SOG, only a little over 1 mil cap hit.
No to Cammaleri. Yes to Souray but why would Dallas trade him for what we'd want to give up (3rd round pick)? I still think Stralman can be that guy. He has a great shot he just needs to let it rip.
Can Selanne play LW? Well he probably can, but has he ever played LW?
