I don't really think that's fair either. It's not like he brings nothing to the table. The guy draws penalties. He probably has the best skating ability of anyone on the team. He uses it to outwork guys on the forecheck and draw obstruction penalties. I just think he is this year's Zharkov. We know he can score, we saw him do it last year.

He does have some skills or else Lou and Conte wouldn't of picked him in the 1st round but. The issues with Tedenby is that he get's seperated from the puck way too easily wich leads to turnovers and his defensive game is on par with IK's.

Not a good receipe if you are trying to crack a NHL roster, especially the Devils NHL roster.

One difference I've noticed from last year to this year is his ability to get open without the puck, and his ability to get separation once he has the puck.

Look at his goals from last year. Even on plays where he doesn't score, he likes to control the puck. Like Kovalchuk, Tedenby is a guy who likes having the puck on his stick. Ideally, he will get the puck high in the slot and make a move on the defensive players to create a scoring chance. He had time to do that last year. This year, I feel like he gets jammed every time he gets the puck. He gets it, and gets denied on his move.

The bottom line is, if one way of playing is still not working halfway into the season, you need to adjust.

The bigger problem with Tedenby is why he seems to want to the puck on his stick. In my opinion, it's because he doesn't have a high hockey IQ.

Much like Bergfors, but with better/flashier hands. Let's see if he's coachable - where Bergfors apparently was not.

Are we witnessing the offspring of Ilya Kovalchuk and Niclas Bergfors?

I don't think its fair to compare Bergfors and Tedenby at all.

if they both weren't smallish and Swedish, no one would compare the two. thats just me.

I would typically agree with the talk of Tedenby getting traded but we all know how Grabner turned out after Pete gave up on him. His track record isn't the best with smaller types. And Tedenby is young yet so he will get his chances if he keeps at it.

I think we need to be patient with him. He hasn't earned the right to play on a higher line, because he isn't producing, he isn't creating chances on his own, and he isn't playing particularly good defence. But I still think he'll come around.

In regards to Tedenby not "earning the right" to play on a higher line I tend to agree. But Deboer's lines also dont do the guy any favors. He puts all of his eggs into the basket that is the top 6.

Split up Parise and Kovy, dont know why this hasnt been done yet. Let your two best players play their natural positions and get some consistency throughout this lineup. What they are doing now isnt working. If you are going to try and dominate in the NHL with just 2 supreme lines, your #1 line needs to be out of this world and a force every game. Ours isnt.

And again, Tedenby should at least be given a shot on the abysmal powerplay.

The top line was a force for a while, but that combination is cooling down now. DeBoer should probably change it soon.

He is not competiting against Boulton and Sesito for for icetime. Entirely different players, bringing entirely different traits to the ice.

Tedenby on your fourth line is indicative of his inability yet to step up to the only role he will ever have (or not) in the NHL. Those other two guys are - regardless of their worts - prototypical fourth liners.

Doesn't work that way. Noobs who are not delivering 5 on 5 are not rewarded with funtime (the PP). You have to demonstrate an ability to produce (offensively and defensively) at even strength first.

My own take on the player is that he has superb puck skills, which is why he was a first rounder. He also is a waif, who despite his undenaible effort, is not particularly strong on the puck, understandably so. And he clearly has not yet figured out a way to overcome that deficiency and modify his game accordingly to be productive offensively. One reads a lot of glowing praise her about select aspects of this play or that play on the ice. Bottom line is that he has produced virtually nothing. Combine that with spotty decision making in the neutral zone and the idea that Deboer doesn't like him or that he is not getting "a fair chance" is dubious, to be kind.

Well, that's interesting. I guess it's time for the Lemaire-style tough love for Tedenby.

When Josefson comes back and potentially goes to Albany for conditioning, I can see Tedenby going down to the A.

He is being pushed and rightfully so, but why are Boulton/Sestito being promoted? Just like you said, they are prototypical 4th liners, even if they play their best, they can`t compete with better players they`re facing.

PP specialists say hi. (although I agree in principle)

so apparently Deboer said that he doesn't know if Zajac/Volch will accompany the team to Pittsburgh.

doesnt that mean theyre out the entire road trip? unless they plan on coming back home before they head to calgary, which I guess is possible

if they would leave him up, with Josefson getting healthy we could have a damn solid 4th line.

Parise - Henrique - Kovalchuk
Zubrus - Elias - Sykora
Josefson - Zajac - Clarkson
Palmieri - Carter - Janssen/Boulton

Send Tedenby down for top line minutes

The Panthers are a speedy team. And I'm all for giving Zalewski a shot, but why the **** is Tedenby benched tonight?!
I can sort of understand if it's to send a message, but the kid has been progressively playing better each game. How is he supposed to find the back of the net eventually if he's in the press box? (hopefully it's just for this one game)

I feel like Pitt is close enough to not need to string the whole trip together.

Zajac and Volch out for the next 2 would suck

Our bottom 6 is a joke

TGfireandice Tom Gulitti
DeBoer wouldn't commit to combinations for bottom 2 lines, but listed on board in room was Sestito-Zalewski-Clarkson; Boulton-Carter-Janssen
