Tedenby on your fourth line is indicative of his inability yet to step up to the only role he will ever have (or not) in the NHL. Those other two guys are - regardless of their worts - prototypical fourth liners.

Doesn't work that way. Noobs who are not delivering 5 on 5 are not rewarded with funtime (the PP). You have to demonstrate an ability to produce (offensively and defensively) at even strength first.
Okay, so you simply ignore how he ACTUALLY performed on the powerplay last season? He did very well for a rookie. Again, give this guy a capable center to work with on a CONSISTENT basis before writing him off. Zajac does not count right now, sorry.

Tedenby will never be given a fair shot with Deboer apparently. Really think he will be moved. As someone already alluded to, hello Grabner 2.0. Bench Tedenby with players who belong playing beer league hockey in the lineup, good move coach.

Tedenby-Zalewski-Clarkson would be a good 3rd line (inexperienced my ass, other teams successfully try these things), but of course we have to play scrub Sestito and bench Tedenby. What a joke.

4th line...whatever.

I`m all for sending him down, it helped many players before, why not him.

You have Brian Burke releasing Colton Orr because that kind of body in the lineup (I purposely refrained from calling him a hockey player) is useless in this league. And yet we are dressing two on a nightly basis. That bothers me.

Nope.

I'm still surprised he wasn't traded last year.

Wow, that's ugly. I don't know what DeBoer is doing.

Maybe he got called up too?

But ya, the listed roster is notoriously unreliable.

No, I think it could be good for him. He still isn't living up to the expectations that DeBoer has of him. He'll get it together.

If we were fully healthy, it wouldn't bother me. But because this means all of Sestito, Boulton and Janssen playing, then yeah I'm annoyed. Especially since he is getting better defensively. I don't mind him taking a game in, but he has some actual offensive instincts compared to the other 3.

PP specialists say hi. (although I agree in principle)
First, I have no idea how you want me to respond to your last sentence....If it make you feel good to point out that there are exceptions to the rule, go for it.

One can count on both hands the number of "PP specialists" in the league. And one can count on a couple of fingers the number of noobs ever handed that role. It's another HF folly, whereby children who are failing otherwise on NHL ice but who have shiiiiiny stick skills and were a 1st rounder get NHL icetime handed to them. To those folks, I say: Keep dreaming.

Boulton has not been promoted. He is in the role he was signed for and has performed capably for numerous NHL seasons: 4th line LW a banger who will defend teammates and chip in the occasional goal. The difference between him and Boston's Thornton, a guy who is rightly praised by many, is modest. Of course, some are offended by the idea that "fighting" is considered a trait of an NHL 4th liner, but those people live in their own world.

As for Sesisto: I have no idea what they see in him, though he was solid in his brief spell last year. But I come back to what I said in the summer (and was, incorrectly, challenged on): fourth liners, typically, are a dime a dozena dn interchangeable. There are exceptions, of course. But Sesito = Mills = Janssens = whomever, and so on.

Edit: Hadn't looked at the lineup/depth chart, as they are meaningless to me. Things change can (and likely will) during the course of a game/period. But I'm guessing this is more a statement of what DeBoer didn't see from his top 9 on Wed, as much as anything else.

It's not the fact he's sitting as much as who he's sitting for that has people in a tizzy. Ideally I'd rather have him play in the AHL if he's not going to play up here, unless this is a one-game thing. You carry scrubs around to be healthy scratches not supposed parts of your future.

DeBoer doesn't want "skilled" players in his bottom 6. He wants guys that will play solid defense and play the body wich is something Tedenby doesn't do very well... if at all.
And as much as I think Tedenby's play this season has gotten vastly overrated around here, this is the main problem I have with PDB, especially with the two goons constantly playing. The days of having a one-way checking line and a goon-laden fourth line are over. You need at least three lines that are viable two-way to be competitive in this NHL.

Well, he won't be the first struggling young player to watch a game from the press box.

I want some guys that aren't goons. Take a page from Burke.

again, if Tedenby were sitting because someone was outplaying him or we were fully healthy and he was rotating in or something, I could understand it. but when hes sitting for bums like Boulton, Sestito, Zalewski, and Janssen, thats what bothers me. think about that. those 4 bums will make up 1/3 of our forwards tonight.

I think DeBoer understands that. But with Zajac out we simply don't have the depth to be able to do that.

I doubt it. Tedenby can't be waived because he's not eligible. And Lou won't trade him for scraps.
