At the half way point.
Same exact point total as last year fyi. And we made the playoffs.

In Sutter I trust. Haven't lost in regulation in what...8 games now?

Quick needs long term big money the second he can be re-signed

That's not leverage. That's a plan B.

I would prefer not to use Bernier as a reason to lowball Quick and end up watching him sign elsewhere.

That's why the Kings won't move Bernier until they have Quick under a long term contract.

Thanks. I didn't see that angle. Center Ice cuts out on me before the players skate off the ice.

That would be July 1, 2012. One year before his current deal ends.

Plan B, leverage, it's pretty much the same thing isn't it?

In any case, I hope JQ doesn't ask for the moon and I most certainly hope DL doesn't give it to him. As much as I loved watching JQ this year, he's not worth 7M.

Exactly. Bernier is not leverage.

Bernier is a Plan B for the Kings in case Quick doesn't sign.

But he's not any kind of leverage for the Kings as far as re-signing Quick. In fact, Bernier may be an obstacle to re-signing Quick.

No.

If we didn't have JB, then JQ could ask for a lot more. That to me, is leverage.

edit: actually, the biggest leverage could be our team defense.

Quick only made the 3rd star of the night on NHL on the Fly. But yeah, as soon as July rolls around, sign this guy for 10 years and be done with it. Then throw Bernier into the trade circle.

You don't sign goalies to a long term deal like that. Goalies are a different breed from regular players. Goalies are fragile.

DIdn't take long for the coach to complain.

"It should be no goal. It's not a matter of fact puck went in the net..It should be goalie interference".

JQ is going to ask for a lot more regardless of whether or not LA has Bernier. He has earned it.

Ironically scary thought. If they second half of the season goes just how the first half went. We make the playoffs, we are 30th in offense, Quick not only wins the Vezina, but he also wins the Hart... $7 million cap hit...

If I'm JQ, I'd sign a reasonable contract and remain a king.

I doubt Quick has that kind of loyalty. It would be foolish of him not to ask for as much $ as he can get.

Yup with Quick's style of play his hips could give out sooner rather than later. I would be asking for max Dollar amount. EsP if I won a Vezina or Hart trophy.

But that's just me.

Everyone thought that about Drew. Even I thought Drew would accept around Tyler Myers money. Or Duncan Kieth Money.

Hopefully he has a Brown/JJ mindset as opposed to Doughty.
