And Orr had no compunction about continuing to feed punches to the opposing combatant even when down on the ice - ask Keith Magnusson and Pat Quinn about that. Mind you that was much more common back in the day than now.

As Derek Sanderson says Orr was tough and here is Orr paying back Quinn for decking him in an earlier game:

Or this one when Orr flies in after a Magnusson cheap shot on Sanderson:

Orr was willing combatant and he could more than handle himself.

IMHO Orr and Howe are 1A and 1B all-time with Gretzky at number three.

ive heard a bunch of reasons for Schneider to start. hes from boston he hasnt played in a while, the coach wants to downplay the importance of this game so his team focuses on it being 1 of 82 and nothing else. yada yada. i dont care if the coach and org is 100% truthful on all those reasons being the factors that lead to this decision it looks bad.

the media the fans the team and luongo are going to entertain the idea that this was done out of fear. that the org is afraid luongo cant mentally handle it. there will be talk that luongo is out and out afraid and wanted the org to start Schneider so he didnt have to face this building. the players may have a fragile feeling about how the coach and goalie fill about facing the bruins.

its either the flat out truth that vancouver fears and has no faith in luongo vs boston or that organization is ignorant to the whirlwind a move like this will stir up.

granted unless boston faces van in the finals again its unlikely any of this will become a factor but im surprised they dont realize how bad this move looks and damaging it could be to the teams mental state.

Indeed. And all the stats and equivocations being offered in his defense can't change that.

Not a champion, never will be.

Lundqvist is making more than Luongo. So is Bryzgalov.

If you go by Cap hit, there's atleast 6 goalies that make more than him.

Lundqvist would be playing too!

Bryzgalov is overpaid and even more overrated than Luongo, give ya that one.

Not surprised. Luongo has actually played well lately, they would be crazy starting him and ruining him for the rest of the season

Well, yeah, because Luongo's contracts runs until 2022. Not even Bryzgalov's goes that long (2020).

Ten more years!

LOL I guess your right. But as a competitor you would think he would want to play against the team that ate him up in the playoffs last year at the Garden. It looks like to me he is hiding and scared!!

Easily the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. Although doesn't DiPietro have like 9 years left too?

These contracts are insane.

Boston is Corey's hometown, Corey hasn't played much lately, and the Canucks avoid starting Luongo for early games. I figured Schneider would start when I initially saw the start time of this game.
