Looks like Frattin was just sent down.

Matt Frattin status in limbo? #Leafs appear to have taken him off active roster, yfrog.com/h37rzoaxj

I dont get this. When Frattin is doing nothing he stays on the roster. When he starts to chip in offensively more, and establish himself as a solid checking player, he gets sent down.

I think the AHL was always better for him, but its coming at the wrong time.

Not having to clear waivers is a big part of these roster decisions.

Why? Its half way through the season. Burke is clear about how he develops his players and a half-in-half stint was always in the cards for Frattin. If we tanked out the gate he would have probably been in the minors until the midway point and then been a part of the team at the end like Kadri. We did okay though and now its crunchtime.

Time for the kids to go back and get our experiences regulars in for the stretch. You can't just look at how he has been recently. He hasn't been good enough in general to stay here.

Gardiner is in the same boat but he may have played himself into a permanent roster spot. It is all dynamic though as roster needs change on a day to day basis

Except IMO Lombardi and Steckel and maybe even Armstrong dont give us a better chance at winning than Frattin.

I have also never been a big fan of demoting players after they have been on the roster for half the season, especially when there play overall has improved. The right time to demote Frattin was when we initially sent him down. The mistake was to call him up 3 games later. Since his callup, Frattin had played 26 games and has 9 points. Thats better than Lombardi and Steckel, and hes way more physical and stronger than those two.

He is not as strong or physical as Steckel nor does he win faceoffs. He is not nearly as quick as Lombardi. That being said, the NHL and managing the roster is far more complex than what you are suggesting. None of the three names you mentioned are even in the discussion of who to send down. That's the players who fought for that as well. Age, seniority, contract status are all important parts of these decisions that cannot be ignored.

When Komi's back hell suck ass like he always does. The over under on games before Komisarek becomes a scratch is 12.

Ill miss Frattin... have no idea why anybody would want to see Lambo play over Frattin as of their play atm.

Why did we send down Frattin just as he was playing really well? What the ****? The guy had a 2 point game just three nights ago.

SteveV and PresidentCamacho won't be happy

Yep, I don't like it, but it's not surprising.

Nice to see Brown finally back. Frattin will be up later in the season, no doubt.

Let Frattin get some minutes and let him find the net some more. Brown is a better option on the fourth line for what they both bring. He'll find his game down there and be more than ready for his next shot.

I still think Lambo is going to be shipped pretty soon though.

I understand it actually, he CAN be sent down, that's the way it goes. It does bother me on the "merit" front, guy has been great on the boards, winning pucks. He'll be back, I have no doubt.

Leafs need to move some bodies, I know we have with Orr and Dupuss, but guys like Lombardi, even Armstrong, not sure we have the room anymore...

Lambo has been adequate enough, but why Crabb is still up over Frattin is beyond me.

Someone had to go down, and Frattin will get some top line mins in the minors. Really don't see too much of a problem here.

I'm kinda excited to see how Frattin does down in the Marlies. If he brings the same speed and intensity that he's shown on the Leafs, he's going to seriously light the lamp against those goalies.
