I agree with you. My own selfish preference is for us to remain in the east. I prefer the early games and have been following eastern teams for the past decade.

I also understand why the realignment needs to happen.

Of course, but Columbus is also in much worse shape financially and would benefit significantly more if they were in the southeast with other eastern time zone teams under the current alignment system just from the vastly increased number of games they would have at convenient starting times for them.

That was also the main argument I always made about the unlikelihood of Detroit being moved east, as they could freaking play in the KHL and still turn a profit. The time zone factor isn't nearly as big of a deal for them as Columbus which, let's face it, needs all the help it can get.

Whereas I prefer Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, Vancouver Canucks.

Point is, Winnipeg and always will be a Western City. They will get to west very soon. I just hope it is in fact the CHI, STL, MIN, CBS, NSH and not the EDM, CGY, VAN division/conference. They fit in better culturally(rivals) and geographically there, IMO.

I liked the new realignment, other than the lack of cross over for bigger conferences. I like the idea of playing the same teams year after year of playoffs, creating rivalries and sorry but I'd like to start ASAP. It just feels so artificial and thrown together with WPG in the East.

This and Jet's post as well. I knew Fehr was trouble when he was hired, but I thought that this was a fairly easy CBA considering how successful most teams are right now. Now I got a sinking feeling that we might be headed for missed games next season. Jets get a team back and we might headed to lockout. Urgh.

I actually okay with the division the Jets are in ATM.

I'd rather see eastern teams more then St Louis, Minny, Columbus...

I think the teams that should be most pissed at not realigning are the per SE teams.
We go down on a road trip and play a few games there at a time. They make a long trip to Winnipeg with no other eastern teams to piggyback on.

I don't feel like a Westerner. I don't identify in the slightest with Sask, or Alberta culturally, so that might influence my preference.

There is a zero percent chance that will happen.
You can't leave Minny alone in a CDN division with crappy timezones.

Same. We aren't a western city. We are a central city.

I would much rather the Jets went to a the east and played TO, MTL, and OTT With EST start times, the playing CHY, EDM, and Van with late start times.

Exactly why we are supposed to go into a conference with other central cities like CHI, DET, STL, MIN, CBS...

You are right - no sense in giving the Jets the opportunity to have less travel when we can spend endless days in Florida...

You argue that we are a central team yet want us to play in the east...not sure how that works out as a positive. Complaining about late starts is a fan issue - not a team travel concern. Easier to go to Cal/Edm than Florida/Tampa.

Let's keep up hope. I was hoping for an instant rivalry with the ATL fans who have remained faithful to the Jets as well as the ones who deferred to the Preds. Can't wait til the Jets come to town in March. It's been talked about since before the season.

I personally was looking forward to it - tough division, with CHI, DET, MIN, DAL and NSH in it. Some good teams for CBJ to play. Nashville impresses me - they've built up a very good fanbase and team via smart hockey management, IMHO.

Will be interesting to see how this all falls out. As others have stated, it appears to be a gambit that will be used by the NHLPA in the upcoming CBA negotiations.

Sounds like the players who play in the eastern conference don't want to travel as much as the guys in the west conference. One report has several players saying that one of the reasons they signed with an eastern team was due to the less travel. Some New York city team players spend as little as 20 days not sleeping in their own beds a season vs 100+ by most western teams

The CBJ could learn a lot about a hockey operation from Nashville, as much as it pains me to admit it. Hopefully this will still come to pass....eventually.

As long as the cap is not on the table, I'm thankful there's a team.

I've got 1290 on, this should be interesting, I expect the most vulgar language a team owner can use

In the Jets' best interests there needs to be more conference opponent imbalance like the NFL.

WEST CONF.
Pacific div. (a)
Central div. (b)

EAST CONF.
Atlantic div. (c)
Eastern div. (d)

So the Jets are in B
They should play, whatever, 45% of games against B, 25% against A, 15% C, 15% D.

I know we may not host every eastern team under this method. But we get extra games against those Canadian teams out west.
