Perfect time to view two sellers in one shot.

D Roman Hamrlik $3.5M, UFA'13 (35+) + middling pick/prospect

for

C Antoine Vermette $3.75M, UFA'15

Or, he is simply wanting to have some doughnuts and ice cream with the coach after the game.

I was thinking if Mike Green is out for a length of time, get Vishnovsky. He would be expensive in terms of giving up assets, but he is signed another season. Anway, nothing but fun speculating.

Its a bad team dumping an even worse contract for a more needed player that happens to also be a cap dump.

what does catching a game in Anaheim have to do with Backstrom and Green being on the trip?

Vermette's upside is Laich-like numbers. Columbus should be looking to build around these guys, not give them up.

I would think they would want something like Eakin plus a pick for Vermette, not ass old no upside Hamrlik.

CBJ has a lousy blueline and little hope of attracting top four talent without overpaying. Hamrlik has one year after this one -- ie, an acquired (short-term) prisoner.

Yes, he sucks on WSH -- but Unlike Schultz, Hamr somewhat earns his paycheck. He's minute muncher (+19 mins), blocks shots (leads WSH d-men) and doesn't give away the puck much.

On thin blueline teams needing to tread water like NYI & CBJ, he'd be happily accepted by their GMs, especially if at the same time they could move some redundant salary.

900k but with performance bonuses it can be 3.9, but there isn't a real hard cap with bonuses there is a percentage you can over, just don't know what it is.

Happily accepted? In what reality?

Any team like that accepting an aging vet having a horrible year should fire their GM. They can tread water with young guys who at least have some upside. At least Schultz makes a little bit of sense since he's young. Hamrlik makes none for bad teams. We won't be able to sucker anyone into taking Hamrlik. We're going to have to live with another McPhee blunder.

At some point you have to dress a credible nhl team. Playing youngsters is fine if they are near-ready but you cant roll out marginal AHL (or wherever their feeder is) talent. If they want Vermette gone, for whatever reason, then the trade would be decent for them since they are shedding contract years and getting a credible NHL player in return.

There's no way of knowing at all what the bonus situation will be like (in terms of cushion etc.) until the lockout is over new CBA is in agreed to.

Hamrlik is playing a lot better. I would give up Schultz way before Hamrlik.

I would prefer sarge in that deal.

But I've learned to not argue with jawanda on trades. Especially clb.

go back to 24/7 last year. mcphee goes to a lot of caps road games. how many caps road games can mcphee got to and see another nhl game not involving his team without any extra travel?

Hammer is old and slow but he gets things done. Carlson young and fast is having bigger problems now than Hammer is. Sure, he is just a kid so he gets a get out of jail free card, and we can beat the Hammer and turn a blind eye.

But it doesn't change what's in George's nature, he covets. Silence of The Lambs ha. Covets defensemen. Specifically, ones that can move pucks. Hammer can do that. Now, if it were to be determined that Nick is going to be out for a significant time, George may have little option but to move Sarge out. He can blame the system change and largely escape scrutiny for what may end up being, fumbling his development by not forcing him to attempt to develop his game. Murray in SJ looks slow as hell. These slow guys have to take the body to compensate.
