Bourque only getting 5 games for the most blatant cheapshot is a joke imo, especially for a repeat offender. It seems backstrom could be out more than his 5 suspended games.
So bitter about no realignment. The players are morons.

In some ways I like the realignment. In other ways its uh... scary.
In one way its great is if Capitals lose to a Western Conference team, its no big deal, they can get back at them. Remember how it used to be, every time a team would beat the Capitals in the western conference, their fans would treat it like the Capitals sucked and they just won the Stanley Cup.
In other ways, they don't do that great against the west and uh that Atlantic conference is pretty scary. One bad game can put you out of the playoffs.
I would like a heavy handed head disciplinarian to at least wait until he gets a conclusive test result. He can still act quickly; I am sure that is one of his directives. Suspended pending test results - done. I believe suspension lengths are in part based on injury severity, right?
It really sucks especially because C is a weakness. He has brought his passing to a new level lately. Too bad George is cap strapped. Its going to have to be Laich to pick up the slack - a tough order. If he doesnt excel as a 1C, is it still the players fault haha. Also right when MJ started showing good at wing, it will be back to centre for him.

I said at the time he should get suspended twice the amount of games Nicky misses (with a min of 5 and max of the season).

Yes, but that is absolutely unacceptable. If the unavailability of test results prevents it from being accounted for, good. The right thing is being done for the wrong reasons, but it's still being done.
Does he have concussion symptoms or what? This is very bad for the caps recovery and momentum if he is out for a while. We need another experienced scoring center to compensate when this happens.
Honestly, did Rosen watch the LA game? Yeah, he didn't score but he played like a man possessed and all these quotes about following his lead, really? He and MoJo were alone on the ice against the Kings. They did what they could, but gimme a break.
Can he play better? Sure. But suggesting that Ovie was the reason they lost, really either CA game, but especially in Los Angeles, is stupid.

Doesn't seem so, although he did RT a congrats in making it. If he wasn't named--instead of dropping out due to injury--it makes it that much worse.
I just edited my post, but yeah. What I wonder is if the league asked the team about his injury and was pretty much told he wouldn't be playing by then. I can't imagine how they could justify (to themselves) naming Ovechkin over him if there wasn't some kind of clear indication that he wouldn't be playing because of the injury.
Curious about how many of the snubs were guys actually turning down the offer ahead of time. Heck, Ovi seemed to have made comments suggesting he'd rather go on vacation this time, but I guess he didn't tell the right people...
the mlb allstar game is the only game of any value anymore. i think most nhlpa members would vote for the idea of discontinuing the allstar game in the nhl

And the fact that it is of any value is somewhat horrifying, honestly. The format doesn't lend itself to value, it's all about spectacle.
And the PA would never vote to get rid of a cash cow, which given the amount of sponsorship the ASG would almost have to be.
baseball players generally play their game to their best ability in the all star format. pitchers are generally not known for throwing batting practice pitches to let the hitter hit. for baseball players also their defense is as much what they want to show off as their hitting. thus its way better than an nba asg.
i havent watched an nhl allstar game in i dont know how long. with the winter classic, they really dont need an allstar game anymore
