Listen. Wideman is wideman. He scored a big goal this week. Neither greeen nor carlson r doing that. Yea wideman looked like a bum as a shutdown d. Who the hell came up with this idea of matching him religously v the opposing 1st line? That's not widemans fault. That wideman brings nothing is a flat out joke. Just as big a joke that he is a matchup shutdown d

Do not want to trust a guy with 0 NHL minutes for important games, even if he's not Schultz. Bring him up next season if at all.

Edit: Never mind. It's his debut. Of course GMGM is going to watch, with no Caps game.

No I use that evidence that he's no where near as bad as many make him out to be. When used correctly, he can do well.

Like it or not his selection places him among the best at his position over the year to that point. It's validation by the people who's job it is to know who sucks and who doesn't. He's had a good year, get over it. He's sucked the last month or so badly, but I too question Hunter's matchups against opposing forwards.

First, Schilling is NOT an option for this season at the NHL level; not that I believe in any way that is why McPhee is in Hershey. Schilling is playing in Hershey on an ATO and he signed a NHL entry-level contract, which starts with next season. Second, there are plenty of reasons he could be up there on a Caps off day from scouting players to discussing the affiliation agreement with Yingst.

It's so warming to read this:

>> An often repeated refrain by skeptical fans in recent weeks has gone something like this: even if the Washington Capitals make the playoffs, itís probably going to be a short run.

>> All that doom and gloom, however, gave way to a glimmer of hope Saturday.

OK guys. We all know Katie's alias here. Now tell me, who's Tarik?

Not sure if someone posted this somewhere but we have nothing to worry about brooks laich has confirmed we are making the playoffs. Thanks for the spoiler alert brooksie.

From japers rink twitter,
@JapersRink: From our comments: Are they oot-sourcing their last two games to accomplish this? MT @1067thefandc: Laich: "We're making the playoffs."

laviolette gets upset at the penguins. good. hunter would stand their stone faced. no expression what so ever.

now....had it been hunter trying to get at bylsma, danny might actually have been afraid. no chance of that i guess

Nonsense. All this means is that we need to give Evason more PP time...er, a greater role in designing the PP.

(I really want Evason = "McPhee's Ovechkin" to catch on...come on guys.)

I don't understand the hate for Evason or any assistant coach for that matter.

Remember when the fault of the "D" was Woods? Or was it Leach? who knows..I can't remember

Look the Head Coach and more importantly the GM are the really the only ones to point fingers at if you are going to do so.

Assistants get fingers pointed at them because they usually run things that are easy to notice specifically. Isn't JJ in charge of the particulars of the man-to-man system? Hasn't Evason been in charge of special teams for quite some time?

So if you can point to the PP as a failing, for example, it's easy to question the job an assistant might be doing. That Evason has stuck through so many changes already also makes him an interesting guy to ponder, even if in theory that should suggest only good things about his job.

But assistants do what the HC tells them to do. In some cases HC does what the GM asks them to do. In both cases the GM is the one who provides the players which USUALLY dictates what the HC and assistants can and can't do.

It trickles down from the top. Thats where the finger pointing should go to and trickle down from there. So 1st blame the Owner, 2nd blame the GM, 3rd the HC, 4th Assistants etc etc...there are rules for the blame game!

Did anyone else read that Boston will be resting players for final games? Think I saw it on main board. If so great make it easier on buffalo.

The problem is you're implying that the HC is responsible for all of the tactical decisions, when that really can't be the case. If tactics are the issue, assistants are going to come under fire.

HC outlines a strategy, but it's up to the assistants to implement it with the appropriate tactics.

Starting with the top in terms of assigning blame is a waste of time. If you have an idea of who's responsible for whatever decisions you don't like (and many decisions are delegated so it doesn't always start at the time) why wouldn't you criticize that person? It's not just from a fan perspective, either, since assistants aren't always linked to their head coach in terms of job security. Mike Yeo rightfully got the blame for some crappy PP years in Pitt. Evason has apparently done a good enough job with whatever specifics he handles to stick around through several head coaches. You can't just ignore their contributions to the overall picture.

On the other, non-whining hand, Boston's lineup moves don't affect the Caps' chances in their last two games, which really should be all that matters. Take care of business and they're in.

If the Caps were trailing the Sabres however, I could see myself getting a little more riled up.

evason might be the "special teams coach". he doesnt set the systems. he doesnt pick the players. he runs the practice and he coaches technique.

this is not like an offensive coordinator that creates and calls all the plays.

evason quoted by half the posters here since last january is not among the hated. meanwhile....jj is not?

Without knowing how serious TV's injury is, with the rumor that he's just resting at home and not with the team...

starting to remind me of Dana Stubblefield missing like the last 14 games of the skins season with pulled hammy or whatever it was.

Lol. Stubby was the biggest loser to ever come to Washington. Dude got his paycheck and he was done.

At least Vokoun wants to win and signed a cheap deal to come to a "winning" team.

Evason appears an idiot to me. With more power than ever. May have been a mole in the BB era. Little tattle tail.

So obviously George likes him a lot. He may even be our next head coach.

Surround yourself with short people, you look taller
